How to Make the Current Time your Pass Code in iOS 7 (Video)

Unless this tweak gets extremely popular with mass media coverage, very few people will expect it. It’s a great way to keep your phone secure, and prevents prying eyes to figure out your pass code. However, it does rely a little on the fact that people won’t figure out that you’re using the time as a passcode, so it’s not 100% fool proof, but it’s close. Check out the instructions and video to use the time as your pass code.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

II. Install TimePasscode

1. Open Cydia (if it isn’t still open from the section above).

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in TimePasscode.

4. Tap on TimePasscode when it shows up.

5. Tap Install in the top right corner.

6. Tap Confirm in the top right corner.

7. Tap Restart.

III. Configure TimePasscode

1. Tap Settings.

2. Scroll down and tap TimePasscode.

  • Make sure the tweak is enabled.
  • Select Allow True Passcode Unlock if you want your original pass code, on top of TimePasscode, to unlock your phone.
  • Select Reverse Time Passcode if you want to input the time pass code in reverse order.
  • No need to respring.

IV. Use TimePasscode

1. Wake up your phone from sleep.

2. Make a mental note of the time, and swipe to bring up the pass code number pad.

3. Enter the time on the number pad to unlock your phone.

  • If you use 12h clock, make sure to tap the number 0 first, as the pass code needs to be 4 numbers long.
  • The time might change in the time it takes you to tap the time pass code. Just add one minute and try again.
