How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (AT&T)

Perhaps you’re done playing with root and custom ROMs on your Android device? Regardless of the reason, it’s usually pretty easy to unroot your device and go back to the stock firmware.

Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (AT&T) are:

  • Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
  • Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
  • Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).

Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (AT&T):

I. Before You Begin

1. Your device needs to have at least 70% of battery life left.

2. This procedure only works on Windows based PCs.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Odin and save it to your Desktop.

2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your Desktop.

Stock Firmware (Type in SM-T217A into the device box and it’ll list out all the firmwares available for your device)

III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (AT&T)

1. Extract files from both Odin and Stock Firmware by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here.

2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll open.

3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware you just extracted to your Desktop.

4. Make sure Repartitions is unchecked in the Odin.

5. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons together.

8. Press Volume UP and your device should enter Download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the stock firmware on your device.

11. It should take some time to flash the firmware, so be patient.

12. Once the firmware’s been flashed, your device should automatically reboot.

13. You’re all done!

All set! You are now running stock firmware on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (AT&T) and have unrooted it.
