How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
Despite being a popular Samsung Android device, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 hasn’t been blessed with a CF-Root method, yet. Fortunately, there’re some other developers who’ve found out a way for you to root your Samsung tablet and enjoy the limitless advantages on it.
Rooting is the process of gaining administrative rights on your Android device. Once we root our Android device, we can then make changes to it to customize it well beyond what it normally can do.
Once you have root access on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, you’ll be able to:
- Remove apps that were preinstalled by your carrier/manufacturer from your device.
- Free up storage space (because of the above benefit).
- Increase battery life (apps that might have been running constantly can be removed).
- Increase performance (after removing apps that are always running, the device will be less bogged down and run smoother).
- Update to a new version of Android (by flashing a custom recovery/ROM, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).

I. Before You Begin
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. This should only work for the following models: P5200 and P5210. To find out what model you have, head to Menu > Settings > About tablet on your device and you should see your model number listed there.
3. This only works on Windows based PCs.
4. You should have Samsung USB drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, head over to the Samsung website and get the drivers installed first.
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.
2. Download TWRP Recovery and save it to your desktop.

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
1. Extract files from Odin as well as TWRP Recovery archives over to your desktop.
2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll launch.
3. Click on PDA and choose the TWRP Recovery (.tar) file you have extracted to your desktop.
4. Make sure Repartition is unchecked in the Odin.
5. You can checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
6. Turn OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN and Power buttons together.
8. Your device should reboot into Download mode.
9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
10. One of the boxes in Odin should turn yellow indicating your device’s been recognized by your PC.
11. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the recovery on your device.
12. Once the recovery’s been flashed, your device should automatically reboot.
13. And you’re all set!
You’ve successfully flashed a custom recovery on your device. Let’s see how you can root your device:
IV. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
1. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
2. Copy the Root ZIP file from your desktop over to the root of your SD card.
3. Once the file’s been copied, turn OFF your device.
4. Turn your device back on by holding down Volume UP and Power buttons together.
5. Your device should reboot into TWRP Recovery mode.
6. Once in recovery, tap on Install and choose the Root ZIP file you copied earlier to be flashed on your device.
7. Hit Swipe to Confirm Flash and it’ll begin flashing the file on your device.
8. When the file’s been flashed, tap on Reboot followed by System.
9. When your device boots-up, go to Menu and launch the SuperSU app.
10. Tap on the Settings option.
11. Uncheck the box that says Enable Superuser.
12. Now re-check the same box again and the Superuser will be enabled on your device.
13. You’re all done!
