11 Fun Cydia Tweaks for iOS 7

“Jailbreaking” is such a harsh term, don’t you think? It brings so much opportunity to iOS, and Cydia is one of the best ways to get the most from your iPhone. If you’re looking for a few iOS Cydia tweaks, we’ve got a few suggestions for you. From battery tweaks to a neat security lock, these 11 Cydia tweaks are sure to give you the iPhone you want.

iFile

This app is pretty simple and straightforward but also really necessary. The iFile app lets you download and install files from Safari. You can also access system files with iFile, editing and deleting as you need. A file manager is important for anyone who breaks free of the constraints a stock OS puts on them, and iFile is a great one for jailbroken iOS devices.

3G Unrestrictor 5

Ever been hampered by a slow connection? Some apps, like Facetime, won’t work with a slower connection. The 3G Unrestrictor 5 app removes those thresholds, letting you use any app you like, whenever you like, regardless of connection speed. It’s a great app for those who travel to spots that may not have the best connection speed, and might be necessary if you live in an area like that.

Auki

The new notification feature in iOS 8 lets you reply to incoming notifications right form the banner pane. Wow! Where did they get that inspiration?! Oh, right, Auki. This is one of those good Cydia tweaks that keeps you ahead of the curve. When a notification drops in, all you have to do is tap it, and a smaller window opens up, letting you reply to something like an SMS.

Better WiFi

Free-Wifi-Tethering

This is a really low-cost WiFi scanner, that finds the best signal based on speed and reliability. It will locate open WiFi signals, and even give you an indication of the signal strength. Connections are important, and this will find the best one for you.

Mobius

Cydia-App-iPhone

You know all those features you hear on devices sometimes, where they boast of nonstop scrolling so you can read? Mobius is just that, offering infinite scrolling for your folders or springboard. Once downloaded, you just start scrolling — Mobius takes care of the rest. There are no adjustments to make; the app works straight away.

AptBackup

Cydia

As you jailbreak and tweak, you tumble down the rabbit hole. AptBackup keeps track of all that for you, so should you ever lose your jailbreak access, you can find your way again. It’s like a log for all your tweaks, letting you make them again at any time, or keep track of what you did and when.

Winterboard

Clarity-Theme-1024x867

It’s not clear if we really need to mention Winterboard, since it’s basically step two in jailbreaking, but just in case… Winterboard lets you theme your iPhone as you like, and just about every theme we’ve run into works from Winterboard. It’s free to download, too. If any app on this list is as important as the next, Winterboard is it.

CCControls

CCControls

You know how control center “is what it is” on iOS? Well, CCControls lets you change it as you like. You can toggle settings to see how you like it while you’re editing, too. If that weren’t enough, you can also theme your control center, making for a truly customized experience. You’ll also get many of the same settings you would, too, like the ability to have it on the lock screen.

GuestMode

Guest-Mode

Ever had someone ask to see your phone, and you’re thinking “umm, well, maybe that’s not a good idea, because…” (and we won’t get into why)? GuestMode adds a guest button to the lock screen, so you can rest assured that whoever gets their hands on your device won’t see any apps or — ahem — media you don’t want them to. You can select exactly what the guest sees and has access to, saving you a red face and explanation.

GIFPaper

Find a favorite GIF somewhere? Was there one you couldn’t stop laughing at, and shared with everyone you knew? If that sounds familiar, GIFPaper is for you. It lets you find any GIF and use it for your live wallpaper, and you don’t even have to download the GIF. Find the address, and GIFPaper will use the GIF for you. This one is pure fun.

SmartTap

maxresdefault-2

Oh, those fancy LG Android devices and their tap to wake feature. I have to admit, those are pretty cool. Wish you could do it without getting Android-y? You can. SmartTap lets you wake the screen with a tap, and even allows you to use gestures when the screen is dormant to jump right into apps or tasks.

Conclusion

These are 11 of our top tweaks on Cydia, but nowhere near the full list of amazing apps you should get. Cydia is a seemingly endless list of awesome, and you’re bound to find anything you want there. Those listed here are a great start, though — a bit of fun, and a bit of function, like any good phone should have!
