How to Unroot the LG Genesis

Wish if you could go back to the unrooted state on your LG Genesis? Well, that’s possible with the help of GingerBreak. You can now unroot your LG Genesis and get it back to the state it was in when you first took it out of the box. Here’s how:

Unrooting is the process of removing root access, a custom recovery (if you have one), and just trying to get the device back to as close to stock as possible.

Some of the reasons for unrooting your LG Genesis are:

  • Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
  • Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
  • Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).

Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the LG Genesis:

I. Before You Begin

1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here. If you didn’t use it to root your device, this procedure may or may not work for you.

2. This doesn’t flash the stock firmware. This only removes root-access from your device.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download GingerBreak APK and save it to your desktop.

III. Unrooting the LG Genesis

1. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

2. Copy GingerBreak APK from your desktop over to the root of your SD card.

3. When it’s copied, disconnect your device from your PC.

4. Enable USB debugging on your device by going to Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging.

5. Enable Unknown sources by heading to Menu > Settings > Security > Unknown sources.

6. Open File Manager and tap on GingerBreak and it’ll install.

7. Launch the newly installed GingerBreak app from your App Drawer.

8. Tap on UnRoot device.

9. It should begin unrooting your device.

10. When it’s done, reboot your device.

11. You should now be unrooted!

Awesome! Your LG Genesis is now back to the unrooted state. You can no longer install root-only apps on your device, however, you can re-root your device to enable the same.
