How to Unroot the LG Lucid 2

Did you encounter any issues on your LG Lucid 2 after rooting it? Do you want to see if those issues are caused by root? If so, flash back the stock firmware on your device and it’ll solve any issues that you might be facing on your device due to root. Here’s how:

Unrooting is the process of removing root access, a custom recovery (if you have one), and just trying to get the device back to as close to stock as possible.

Some of the reasons for unrooting your LG Lucid 2 are:

  • Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
  • Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
  • Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).

Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the LG Lucid 2:

I. Before You Begin

1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This should only work on Windows based PCs.

3. You should’ve appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you haven’t, you can download and install the latest drivers from here.

4. This should flash the stock firmware on your device.

III. Unrooting the LG Lucid 2

1. First of all, disable all the antivirus programmes that are running on your PC, as they’re likely to interrupt the flashing process.

2. Double-click on msxml.msi and install it on your PC.

3. Double-click on UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe and it’ll launch.

4. Click on folder icon where it says Encrypt cab file to kdz file.

5. Select the Stock Firmware .cab file you downloaded to your desktop earlier.

6. Click on Encrypt cab -> kdz and it’ll begin the conversion process. At this point, you’ll feel like your PC has frozen, but the fact is it’s actually converting the .cab file to .kdz file.

7. When it’s done, close the tool.

8. Double-click on KDZ_FW_UPD.exe and it’ll open.

9. Select CDMA from the Type dropdown menu.

10. Select Emergency from the Phonemode dropdown menu.

11. Click on the folder icon and select the .kdz firmware file that you converted in the above step.

12. Turn OFF and unplug your device from your PC.

13. Hold down Volume UP and Volume DOWN buttons together and plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

14. Your device should now be in Emergency mode.

15. Click on Launch software update in the tool and it should begin flashing the firmware on your device.

16. It should take a couple of minutes to flash the firmware.

17. When it’s done, reboot your device.

18. You’re all set!

Excellent! Your LG Lucid 2 is now unrooted and is running the official stock firmware.
