How to Unroot the OnePlus One (Toolkit Method) (Video)

You can use this method to just unroot your OnePlus One and then go back and flash different ROMs or start over with your tinkering, or you can bring it completely back to stock in case you need to send it in for warranty (like I had to do with my microphone just all of a sudden took a crap). It involves downloading a handy toolkit by an XDA developer (please donate or thank him if this helps you by the end), and using that to flash the original CyanogenMod 11S firmware onto the device, then we go in and relock the bootloader to seal the deal. Here’s how to get it all done:

I. Before You Begin

1. This method only works on Windows as the toolkit I’m using is for Windows only.

II. Download and Setup the Toolkit

If you don’t already have the toolkit from our How to Root the OnePlus One tutorial, here’s how to get it. If you already have it, skip to Section III.

1. Head to the Java Download Page, download java for your operating system version, and save it to your desktop.

2. Double-click the java exe file and follow the prompts to install java.

3. Close your browser and reopen it (so java can finish installing).

4. Download the OnePlus One Toolkit from the developer here and save it to your desktop.

OnePlus One Toolkit (located under Download in the first post)

5. Double-click the exe file and follow the prompts to install the toolkit.

6. Click Download ADB Drivers.

7. Click Install ADB Drivers.

8. On the phone, go to Settings > About Phone.

9. Repeated tap on Build Number until it says you’ve enabled developer options.

10. Hit back.

11. Tap on Developer Options.

12. Turn on Android Debugging.

13. Plug the phone in via USB cable.

III. Flash Stock CyanogenMod 11S

1. Open the toolkit on the computer.

2. Click on Enter Fastboot/Recovery Mode.

3. Click on Flash CM11S to flash the original firmware.

4. Check the device once it’s done flashing and make sure there is no SuperSU in the app drawer anymore.

IV. Flash the Stock Recovery

1. In the toolkit, click on Enter Fastboot/Recovery Mode.

2. Click on Flash Recovery and choose the Stock recovery.

IV. Relock the Bootloader

1. In the toolkit, click on Enter Fastboot/Recovery Mode.

2. Click OEM Lock.

3. When the device reboots, you’re all set.

  1. Do you actually reply to any comments because I see a lot of unanswered questions on the youtube video, which is fucking annoying. I try to flash the CM11 file however it says it cannot be found the specified file location. ANy idea why

    1. I do but Google/YouTube actually chooses which comments to notify me about based on some algorithm they have so I don’t see them all unfortunately. Unlike here on my own site.

That error means that the CM11 file isn’t in the folder it should be in. Try and reinstall the toolkit on the C:/ directly as in not in any folder.

Or you’ll have to contact the toolkit developer cause he might have changed something and it’s a bug.
