How to Customize the Notification Center in iOS 8

Notification center for iOS used to be pretty stagnant. It fed you what Apple thought you needed to know, but that’s all changed with iOS 8. Now you can get updates and notifications on a variety of topics under the “Today” header. Here, we’ll show you just how to that.

While not all your apps will take advantage of this feature, those that do provide an awesome quick-look at what you might need to know for the day.

Customizing Notification Center

1. Pull down from the top of your home screen (note: you can’t edit from the lock screen), opening the notification center.

2. When under the “Today” header, scroll to the bottom until you see “Edit”. Click on that.

3. To add an app to your notification center, just click on the green plus-sign next to its name. All apps are left out by default.

4. To re-arrange, just long press on the three-line icon next to the item in your notification center and drag to your desired location. Note that some notification items aren’t able to be positioned.

5. Once you’re done, click done. That’s it! Now all you have to do is drag down from the top of your screen, and your new notification center shows the information you want, how you want it.
