How to Set Gesture Shortcuts on the OnePlus One

The idea of a Gesture based interface isn’t an entirely new concept, just look at the Leap Motion controller that allows you to wave your fingers around in the air and control your computer.  The Pebble watch lets you flick your wrist to turn on the screen while the Moto X allows you to twist your wrist to launch the camera.

CyanogenMod on the OnePlus One includes screen swipe gestures when the screen is off that allows you quick access to certain apps and features.

These include making a V gesture on the Screen to turn on the camera flash/flashlight, making a circle on the screen to open the camera app, and a set of gestures to control music playback. The beauty of these gestures is that they work with the screen off, which means you save power (cell phone screens being on are one of the largest battery drains on a cell phone) and quickly navigate.

1. Pull down the notification shade and tap the box icon in the upper right corner of your screen.

2. Tap on the Settings Icon.

3. Scroll down to and Tap on Gestures.

4.   Now we have some interesting personalization options here.  One of my favorites is Drawing a V on the screen to turn on the flashlight(for some reason I do it accidentally all the time).  Just tap on the box next to the Gesture to check it on or off.

5. You can now hit the Android Back Button and exit out of the menus.  Your Gestures are now set.
