How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Avant

If you think you did so many tweaks on your Samsung Galaxy Avant that you almost forgot what the stock phone looks like, maybe it’s time you should consider unrooting your phone and getting it back to stock. It’ll remove all of the tweaks that you have done on your device and should get the stock feeling on your device once again.

Not only does unrooting help you get back the stock experience, but it helps you fix a lot of issues related to your software as well. For example, if you’ve loaded-up your device with so many root-only apps and you think they’re causing your device to slow down, you can just do the unrooting procedure and it will remove these apps off your device and won’t let them access your phone anymore.

You can also unroot to help in case you uninstalled any useful system apps on your device. As you’ll be able to get them back by flashing back the stock firmware. If any of this sounds like something you could benefit from, here’s how to get started.

I. Before You Begin

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This only works for the SM-G386T variant of the device. Please do not flash this firmware on any other device or you’ll end-up bricking it.

3. You should have a Windows based PC to do this procedure as the tool you’ll use is only available for Windows.

4. You should have Samsung USB drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, download and install the latest drivers from here.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.

III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Avant

1. Uncompress files from both Odin and Stock Firmware to your desktop by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here. It’ll put all the files to your desktop.

2. Find Odin executable on your desktop and double-click on it and it’ll launch.

3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware file you just extracted to your desktop. It’s the file that you extracted to your desktop and not the archive itself.

4. Make sure Repartition is unchecked in the Odin.

5. Put a checkmark in the options that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

6. Power down your device.

7. Reboot your device into download mode. To do that, hold down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.

8. Press Volume UP when you see a warning message on your screen and you’ll reboot into download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

10. One of the boxes in Odin should turn yellow indicating your device’s been recognized by your PC.

11. Click on Start in the Odin and it should start flashing stock firmware on your device.

12. When it’s done flashing, your device should automatically reboot.

13. You’re all set!

Congratulations! Your Samsung Galaxy Avant is now unrooted and is running the official stock firmware.
