How to Unlock an LG Phone: Easily Increase the Value of Your Phone

LG phones are some of the most popular on the Android market, so it’s understandable that if you have one – you wouldn’t wanna let it go to waste when you’re overseas. If you love your LG and are avoiding international fees – you’re wondering how to unlock an LG phone. Well, despite the fact you’re dealing with strings of code and numbers – it’s actually quite an easy process. Before getting an LG unlock code to get this show on the road, you’re going to have to find your IMEI.

I. Find Your IMEI

Your International Mobile Equipment Identity – or IMEI –  is a serial number that is unique to your phone. Essentially, it serves as a bulls-eye for your GSM network carrier, telling it to hit that point to give your phone network access. There are many different ways to find out your IMEI, but universally for literally any type of mobile device you can dial *#06# and hit send/call and your IMEI should appear on your screen. Once you’ve got it, you’re ready to move on to the next step in learning how to unlock a LG phone.

II. Buy an Unlock Code

While you’ll find many options for a vendor to purchase an LG unlock code from by merely searching the web, you can bypass that step by buying one right here. That’s right, we’ve got them up for sale should you want to purchase from us. You can purchase a code by clicking here and wait for an email with the unlock code in 2-3 days (usually less). From us the code is $29.95 and a full refund is given if a code doesn’t come back.

If you didn’t purchase from us, simply follow the directions your unlock code supplier gives you and complete your purchase of the code. Then, wait a couple of days for the code to be processed. Once this time has passed (usually just a couple of days), you’ll receive an email with your unlock code –preparing you for the next step.

III. Input the Unlock Code into Your Motorola Phone

Here comes the fun part. Firstly, you’re going to have to turn your phone off and remove your SIM card from your device. Replace the old SIM with your new international SIM and then boot your phone back on.  From here, you’ll be prompted to enter your unlock code. Enter it, but do it carefully because you’re only allotted a certain amount of attempts before your phone will reject codes (and when that happens, you can’t get more attemps –ever).

And voila! Your phone is now an unlocked LG phone – more valuable than it was before (since it can now be purchased by anyone with a GSM carrier around the world instead of just the people with the carrier it was locked to).

But, wait – you may have run into the problem of not having network access upon turning your phone on. No sweat! You’ll just have to input your new APN settings manually. Read below if that’s the case.

IV. Input the APN Settings (Optional)

To set up your new APN settings, you’ll first need to know your network carrier’s internet settings. You can access these settings here at TheUnlockr by checking out our database of Internet Settings. By finding your country and your carrier, you’ll be ready to follow the below infographic to input your APN settings.
