How to Root the Lenovo K3 Note
One of the best ways to get the most out of an Android device is to root the device and then start using custom software on it. This is especially the case when you root your Lenovo K3 Note.
The custom software that you can run on your K3 Note after rooting it includes root-only apps, custom recoveries, custom ROMs, and more. If you haven’t tried these things before, you’d be surprised to know what they can really do for you. For instance, a custom ROM, aka a new version of the operating system for the device, can change the entire appearance and functionality of your device and even increase performance in just a few minutes.
Not only can you flash a custom ROM on your device after rooting it, but you can also customize specific elements, as well. For example, you can have your boot animation changed to something more of your liking (what about having that older Nokia hands animation if you’re feeling nostalgic?).
If any of that sounds appealing, then here’s how you can root your Lenovo K3 Note and get it ready to flash custom ROMs in a few simple steps.
Before You Begin
1. This should void the warranty of your device. Please proceed at your own risk. We will not be held responsible if your device gets damaged during or after the procedure.
2. You should have PdaNet installed on your PC. If you don’t, please install it first.
3. This should also flash a custom recovery on your device.
How to Root the Lenovo K3 Note
In order to root the device, we’re going to be flashing a custom recovery which will then let you flash the SuperSU file to obtain access to root directory on the device. Here’s how:
Downloading Required Files
1. Download Fastboot and CWM Recovery and save them to your desktop.
2. Download SuperSU and save it to your desktop.
Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Lenovo K3 Note
1. Right-click on Fastboot and CWM Recovery and select Extract here to extract their files.
2. Head to Menu > Settings > About phone on your device and tap on Build number for 7-8 times until it says you’re a developer.
3. Head to Menu > Settings > Developer options and turn on USB debugging.
4. Plug in your device to your PC using a USB cable.
5. Double-click on py_cmd.exe to launch a Command Prompt Window.
6. Type in the following command into the window and press Enter:
adb reboot bootloader
7. Your device should reboot into bootloader mode.
8. When your device is in bootloader mode, type in the following command into the Command Prompt Window and press Enter:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. It should flash CWM Recovery on your device.
10. When it’s done flashing the recovery, issue the following command to reboot your device:
fastboot reboot
11. Your device should reboot.
12. You’re done.
A custom recovery was successfully flashed on your Lenovo K3 Note and you can now go ahead and root your device using this newly installed recovery.
Using SuperSU to Root the Lenovo K3 Note
1. Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.
2. Copy SuperSU .zip from your computer over to the internal SD card storage on your device.
3. When SuperSU is copied, disconnect your device from your PC.
4. Turn off your device.
5. Turn your device back on by holding down Volume UP, Volume DOWN, and Power buttons together.
6. Your device should reboot into CWM Recovery mode.
7. Once in recovery, select install zip.
8. Select choose zip from sdcard on the screen that follows.
9. Navigate to your internal storage and select the SuperSU .zip file that you copied earlier to be flashed on your device.
10. Wait for it to install SuperSU on your device.
11. When it’s done installing SuperSU, reboot your device by selecting reboot system now.
12. Your device should reboot.
13. You’re now rooted!
Excellent! Your Lenovo K3 Note is now rooted and is equipped with a custom recovery to help you flash various custom ROMs on your device.

my phone rooted successfully but not starting showing Lenovo powered by android when I am pressing volume+ volume- and powerbutton showing taiwan101 cwm recovery but I want old android os now tell me what to do

The above procedure only flashes a custom recovery and roots your device. It doesn’t load a custom ROM on your device that its OS gets changed.
Are you referring to replacing the custom recovery with the stock one on your device? Is that what you wish to get back on your device?

I tried and it installed the CWM but when I try to reboot into recovery mode Lenovo Recover mode comes. Not sure if I am missing anything..

If you can’t get your phone to boot into CWM, simply use the command “fastboot boot recovery.img” and that should get you into the CWM recovery for you to then be able to flash SuperSU.

After rooting my k3 note and installing superSU successfully i checked with root checker and it shows root access not properly installed on this device………..i rechecked each step and i made no mistakes ..so pls tell me what to do now?
Did the root checker app ask for SU privileges? Did you see two buttons labeled as Deny and Grant when you tried to verify the root permissions with that app?

Yes it did ask n i granted permission
If you granted, then I believe it should be the binary issues.
What I suggest you to do is to launch the SuperSU app and update the binaries The app will automatically prompt you to do so when you launch it.

but problems never end….i also installed cyanogenmod 12.1 n after booting up the device, camera, microphone, n headset have stopped working….

My device was rooted and with CWM recovery loaded successfully. However, once it’s flashed with K50-T5_S137_ROM (Baseband version: K50T5.MR1.LWG.V3, 2015/06/03 21:33, Build number: K50-T5_S137_150528_ROW), it no longer be booted into the CWM recovery mode, thus couldn’t flash any other ROMs nor execute any backup/restore from my previous working conditions. It seems that the boot-loader had been locked and was prevented from loading any other boot images other than that provided by K50-T5_S137_ROM. Please advise and give me some cues to rectify this.
