SIM-Free & Unlocked iPhone 6S and 6S Plus Up for Sale on Apple’s Website

The SIM-Free version of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are now on sale in the Apple Store. These versions are factory unlocked by Apple, have no SIM card, and you can use them on any GSM carrier in the world (and Verizon).

So, finally, anyone looking to not have to buy one from a carrier, then cancel the service or pay off the phone, in order to just send an iPhone to their buddy in Argentina can now do so! Yay!

iPhone 6S Plus SIM-Free Price

Apple obviously waits to release their SIM-free versions of their phones for a bit to encourage people to buy the phones from their carriers (which most Americans do anyway since they aren’t even sure what an unlocked phone or SIM-free even means), but all it ends up doing, in my opinion, is allow the creation of this grey market of people buying iPhones from the carriers and then putting them on eBay for a jacked-up price since people overseas can’t buy the phones through the carriers but still REALLY want the phones.

iPhone 6S Plus Inflated Prices

I’m still waiting for the day that we buy the phones we want from the manufacturers that make them, then hook them up to the carrier we think has the best service we need. You know, sort of like when you buy a TV and then can choose what cable provider you want –except when the cable provider has a monopoly in your neighborhood and they’re the only one you can get… nevermind, go get SIM-free iPhones from Apple.
