How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro
So you’ve just rooted your Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro smartphone and now wish to flash a custom recovery on it? No problem, here’s how you can do that. While rooting gives you the ability to install root-only apps, a custom recovery helps flash custom ROMs and Mods, that serve you with the most advanced Android tweaks. Here’s how you can flash a custom recovery on the Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro smartphone:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must be rooted before you do this procedure. Head to our Root Guide to learn how you can root your device.
2. This procedure works on Windows based PCs only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Recovery (Download link’s available in the first post)
2. Fastboot
III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro:
1. Download and place both the archives onto your Desktop.
2. Extract files from both the archives over to your Desktop.
3. Turn OFF your device.
4. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons together for about ten seconds.
5. Your device should now be in Fastboot mode.
6. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
7. Launch a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do that, simply hold down the Shift button and right-click anywhere on your Desktop and choose Open command window here.
8. Now type in following commands into the Command Prompt Window hitting Enter after the end of each line:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
9. Your device should reboot.
10. And you’re all set!
