How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the LG Optimus V

Who doesn’t like installing custom ROMs when a smartphone like LG Optimus V is in hands? Everyone out there would probably like trying out new ROMs to change the way they use the phone features and here we have a guide on how to install a custom recovery image on the LG Optimus V so you can flash ZIP ROMs. Follow our guide below:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Check out our guide on how to root the LG Optimus V.

2. Make sure your device is charged at least 60%. It could cause problems if it is less than this level.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Flash Pack (Download link’s given in the first post)

2. Recovery Image (Download link is in the first post)

3. Terminal Emulator (Google Play Link)

III. Installing a Custom Recovery on the LG Optimus V:

1. Download and place Flash Pack and Recovery Image archives on your Desktop.

2. Install the Terminal Emulator app on your device from Google Play.

3. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

4. Extract the Flash Pack archive to the SD card of your device. You’ll get a folder called recoveryflash on your SD card.

5. Copy the Recovery Image file over to the recoveryflash folder on your SD card.

6. Disconnect the device from your PC after the files have been copied.

7. Launch the Terminal Emulator app on your device.

8. Issue the following commands using the app. Make sure to press ENTER after each line:

su
cat /sdcard/recoveryflash/recoveryflash.sh > /data/local/recoveryflash.sh
chmod 0755 /data/local/recoveryflash.sh
/data/local/recoveryflash.sh

9. It should install the recovery as well as boot the device into Recovery mode.

10. You’re done!

Your phone’s now running a custom recovery that enables you to install custom ROMs and Tweaks! You device which one you want to go with!
