There are two methods for rooting a Magic because there are 2 different versions of motherboards for the Magic phones depending on what company is releasing the phone. There is 32A and 32B motherboards. So depending on what motherboard the MyTouch uses, you would use that rooting process and ROMs made for that motherboard.
Soon as T-Mobile releases the MyTouch 3G, we’ll get one and let you know what motherboard it is and then you can follow the procedure accordingly.
Read the How To Root the Magic procedure for more information on 32A and 32B.

People are working on Rooting the MyTouch at the moment, you cannot load Hero until this happens. We will post on here as soon as it is rooted (we’re getting one next week and will work on it ASAP).

I have a HTC Magic, but its the Indian version that does not have the android market nor does it support google apps like maps and gmail. Its really irritating me, cos i spent about 100$ more to get a Legal one.

Im not really a developer.

What id like to now is that, in case i load a Hero rom, will i get all the google applications & android market???

Do you want a Hero or Non Hero interface?
None Hero is much smoother but not as cool looking lol
Other than that, try different ones, the changes are usually pretty minor, and it is all personal preference.

I get a reply saying this is a invalid command?????

Hello Spaz,

That is a theme, not a ROM. Just do the 1 click rooting process on our site, then the how to load a rom process that is linked to at the end of the rooting process and after that put the file from that thread on your sd card, rename to update and then use the recovery image to wipe and then apply the update.zip

i got everthing set up right coming from my MyGtouch 3G i already make the procedures like u tech us with the one click method to unroot i install the QTek Hero ROM (Magic, MyTouch, 32B). The Problem is when the phone goes sleepmode (screen turns black) after you wake it up the screen turns fuzzy/blurry. Is there an easy solution to this problem? or should I install a different ROM? Any suggestions? I really like this rom besides the blurry screen issue.

I did the one click cyanogen 1.4 root and currently am running cyanogen 4.0.2, with a nabzilla hero theme. However I want the real deal hero and want to install the evil hero 1.74 or Qtek you recommend. Do I need to completely unroot my phone your way or another way ? Or can I use some of what I already have ? I didnt see it mentioned, but is your tutorial based on the goldcard method ive seen elsewhere? apparantly its the best way, but I like how you have videos attached.

If you are not very experienced with this type of stuff, I would recommend, doing our 1 click root method (the gold card method is obsolete) and make sure you load the Amon Ra recovery image instead of the Cyanogen one and then do the Load a Custom ROM (best method) procedure and you are all set.
*If the 1 click method doesn’t work then unroot using our method and start over.
Otherwise if you are experienced, then just download the Amon Ra recovery image from the 1 click procedure and then load it via Fastboot on your computer and go to the Load a ROM procedure.

Thanks for your help,I just do what you tell me to do unroot my phone, and star again from the custom rom all the procedures and installed the Hero rom by Qtek on my Mytouch again. But keeps doing the same problem when the phone goes sleepmode after you wake it up the screen turns blurry. Is there another solution to this problem? or should I install a different ROM?

This issue is weird (and annoying) lol
It seems to happen completely randomly and only on certain myTouches, we are trying to figure out why, but in the meantime, load the Cyanogen ROM at the end of this page and you shouldn’t have that issue.
Then once someone figures out what is causing the fuzziness, it’ll be up on the site.

I have successfully (not really?) have the Hero ROM on my mytouch 3g. one problem though, i dont have network connection on my phone, i cannot sign on to my gmail or nothing because of no network. ive notice (once) the phone glitched? had an HTC logo on the back and just had the time bar open on top… Thanks once again!

Not sure if you mean no GPRS/EDGE connection, but if so make sure that your APN settings are populated. In the Qtek version I had to manually add the APN data to get online. All is working great now!

Name: Whatever you want to call it
APN: epc.tmobile.com

Thanks a lot! i dont think i saw that last night while putting the ROM at 3am lol but thanks again, the advice work good. i have network now,though, how do i know i have 3g? next to the bars on top, i have an H with arrows up and down indicating networking, am i suppose to get a 3g indication?

I should receive my 8gb class 6 card by friday ( my day off!), and will knock this out then. I believe that the ‘H’ is just how the specific ROM displays it. I have seen 3G and H on different ROMS.

My only thought is that some areas (Europe) use HSPA and others (tmo usa) uses GPRS. If you speedtest it, it is certainly 3G speed.

Someone is right, H stands for HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet). Here in the States we call everything 3G but there is a level above that called 3.5G which is 3G with HSDPA enabled on it. Most European companies that have 3G have HSDPA as well.
So since the Hero ROMs are European they display H whenever they see 3G because they assume that the 3G they see has HSDPA installed.
As far as we are concerned, that H is the same as seeing the 3G symbol we are used to

I just followed the “One Click” method to root my mt3g. It seems to have worked and when I rebooted with power+home I got the “Android system recovery” screen like I was supposed to get…however that’s where the video stopped and I don’t know what to do next. Can you tell me what I should select from this screen to compete the process?

Hello Will AND ANYONE ELSE WITH BLUETOOTH ISSUES ON HERO ROMS,

There is no bluetooth support in any Hero ROMs. Something about the Hero itself having a weird Bluetooth setup.
Check with the developers of the ROMs to see if they have an update coming to fix this.

Hello Eric,

Yes, but only the Non Hero ROMs and only the ROMs that say G1 next to them. The Hero ones require you to partition your memory card for them to run properly. Goto our how to unroot, then 1 click root, then load a custom ROM videos. After that you will be ready to load any G1 ROM.

I just did the one click method of 5 MyTouchs that came directly from T-Mobile. No issues
The only patch that will fix the loop hole that I can see them coming up with is the next version of Android (1.6). I don’t think they will make a separate patch to fix it since Google and HTC don’t care too much to be honest lol

Thanks for the input on letting me have networking on my phone. I was wondering if you had any videos on how to overclock the phone, i looked but i did not see anything. i tried running OVERCLOCK WIDGET but since im a newb on this whole phone thing, i didn’t know how to run it, i know you have to be rooted but i had no luck. when im on the weather application and i go back to the home, i see a blank screen with the loading logo, like if its trying to catch up (lagg), sometimes i see the same whole blank screen with the HTC logo doing the same thing.

Do these hereo roms enhance the speed and useablity of the mytouch or are people using them mainly for the coolness factor? I’m asking cuz I used many of the roms made for the htc wing from xda developers, and ultimately they performed slower than the original rom.

Any Hero ROM nowadays has swapper automatically built in and CPU settings altered already. I would not recommend using a CPU setting app or changing the swapper settings if you are using a ROM that already has them set and optimized, could cause some issues (especially Swapper).

Been reading with interest the many articles on installing ROMS. I have a vodafone HTC magic on which I installed “Perfect Home” and made my own theme, and I’m fairly happy with the setup. But I am interested in getting multi-touch and flash support. Am I correct in thinking these are supported in the Hero Roms? I’m not too fussed about the Hero interface, just some of the features you get with it. Also, in performing the root process and rom install process, do I wipe all the apps downloaded to my phone? I have paid for some stuff which I don’t want to lose.

Hello Borgnine,

You do not need Hero to get those features. Root, and then do the next procedure to install a ROM, but instead of installing a Hero ROM install Cyanogen’s ROM (for 32B) and you will have the features you want without the Hero interface.
It will delete your apps, but you can just log into your google account and goto the Market and then My Downloads to redownload them without having to pay for them. Also google can help you get them back if there is any difficulty (just tell them you restored to factory settings as that is exactly what we do during this process that deletes data).

Unlockr I’m thinking of getting a 8 gig class 6 sd card. Is it worth getting? Right now I have a. Standard 8 gig sd and I’m running jachero 1.6r2a on my g1. How big of a jump would it be. One more thing I see notice is that you can upgrade to ext3 and ext4 what would that do and is that a option in your costume recovery img.

I’d recommend turning off the phone then back on into recovery mode (Home and Power) and clicking on the convert Ext2 to Ext3 (don’t go to Ext4 as most ROMs only support up to Ext3) and then do the Move Dalvik Cache to SD. That should help slightly. Then if you still want to move to a class 6 card, go for it. All of these things may not have a huge impact but every little bit helps.

Read the reported issues at the bottom of the How To Load a ROM procedure for an explination.
If you are using the MyTouch, try the JACHeroski V1.5 we have here in the ROMs section. Usually doesn’t give a fuzzy screen.

Has anyone seen a performance difference in the Hero ROMs? I have QTek installed, but it’s extremely slow doing anything. Are the other two quicker? Just curious before I download, install, etc. I am running MyTouch (32B).

I’m really hoping to use Hero, because I like the included apps and layout changes (more screens, etc). But if I can’t get it to run faster I might have to switch back. It’s almost impossible to accomplish anything in a reasonable amount of time.

Also, my downloads from the market are almost all gone. Luckily I didn’t pay for any of them, so it’s just an issue of remembering what I had on there.

Update… I put a task manager/killer on there and that helps a ton.

I noticed whenever it slows down, the music app is running. Strange because I haven’t been listening to any music. When I kill it, the phone runs quick again. Eventually it will slow down and there is the music app again!

I will probably try some other ROMS next week, anyone used Drizzy’s hero ROMs?

I also noticed the adding events on the calendar don’t seem to sync with my google calendar, but I think I read something about that on other forums too.

Hello Mudassir,

No, doesn’t work that way unfortunately. They are not the same hardware. Biggest differences being the motherboard and the RAM (288 in the Hero and 192Mb in the MyTouch, hence why the MyTouch runs Hero so slowly).
But this release means that those custom Hero ROMs on XDA for the MyTouch will be improved once the developers over there start incorporating it into their releases (which will be soon I would expect).

Just installed the JACHeroski rom on mytouch T-Mobile and I can say it’s by far the best stable one around… I have tethel working, browsing, etc… I paired a Motorola bluetooth, but couldn’t use it (brand new universal one, but I don’t know whose fault it is…)

I love the Hero roms and all but flash is what I’m really after. If i have to run a Hero rom to get flash on my phone then so be it. I can always unroot if an upgrade comes out for the MT3G.

i have an HTC magic from rogers, i’ve already done rooting it and now i want to install a ROM. would the Modaco release run on my HTC magic? Does it also fix the Bluetooth file transfer problem?

Trying the MyTouch in hopes that I can stay with TMoblle. I like many things about this phone. What I can;t live with are apps not responding with an option to wait or force close. That and the touch screen seems a bit sluggish when compared to my iTouch.

The only other issue I have is message/email text size. I’d like a way to increase the font so my aging eyes can see my messages without readers.

I’ve successfully one-clicked rooted the Mytouch.

Is there a stable, fully functioning ROM that can get me though some if not all of these issues?

When re-partitioning on a G1 for Hero, how much room is spared for the ext2 partition? I been reading, and I may be wrong, but is the ext2 partition for the apps2sd? If so, is there an ez way to resize or up the size on this using the Amon Raâ€™s recovery image?

The ext2 is used for the apps, you are right. It is preset to 500Mbs when you use Amon Ras image and that is usually plenty. Did you fill up the 500Mbs?

Er… I’ve tried two of the possible Hero roms for the 32B Magic (Vodafone) and both got stuck at the “Android” screen before full boot. Yes there is a new ROM. In the search box at the top of this page type 32B JACHeroski and you will find his thread and you can download his version 1.7 (or 1.8 not sure what is the latest) and then load it like normal.

I recently followed all the instructions
on this site on how to root, and flash the spl and rom, i ran into a few problems, but i was able to fix them. Now when i loaded the rom onto my sd card to flas it, renamed it (update) I turned off the phone, loaded the Recovery screen, wiped, and applied the update from sdcard. now it flash successfully, but when its time to Boot the phone normally, it gets stuck on the HERO logo screen. i used this rom (JACXHeroSkiv Hero ROM) i dont think my phone is bricked as it still allows me to access the recovery screen and the fastboot screen (camera+powerOn) but it will not detect a new update off the sdcard when i try to install a new rom. thanks!

You are supposed to skip them because the MyTouch has the correct radio versions out of the box, but we recommend checking them anyway (it tells you how to do that and takes two seconds) just to make sure that they are right.

The radio can be found on HTC’s site but the SPL is custom.
Check the procedure for loading a ROM for your phone and it will show you how to check and where to download them both if you don’t have them.

Great website Unlockr! Thanks for support you’ve provided. I loaded the MoDaCo 2.2 Enhanced ROM for the real Hero phone last night and had 3 minor issues.
1) The unlock slider no longer recognizes the phone is connected to a network, it continually shows the “slide down for emergency calls” notification.
2) Built-in Facebook support in the People application stops working. It can no longer stay signed in.
3) The onscreen keyboard for phone dialing will only show Greek letters above the numbers rather than English.
Window transistions did seem faster, but I reverted back to the stock ROM anyway. I’ll wait for a true HTC update I suppose.

That’s weird for sure. I would assume you’ve gone to the Settings and Date and Time and/or Locale sections and set it back right?
If that still doesn’t work I would try to reload the ROM (just put the update.zip on the card, DO a wipe, then apply update.zip)

Bluetooth (and the LED) do NOT work on Hero ROMs. You will have to use a Non Hero ROM if Bluetooth is important to you until they eventually come out with an update to get Bluetooth to work.

Cyanogen has 3G. It will either show a 3G symbol or an H which stands for HSDPA (another name for 3G).
If you have no internet at all then you need to put the internet settings into the phone, by going to the Internet Settings section of our site under the Support page and add an APN in your Wireless Settings in your phone with the information provided.

Technically yes swapper effects the life of the SD card, but we’re not talking like shaving years off it’s life by any means. By the time it effects the memory card, you’ll have bought a new phone and a new memory card with double the size (for half the price).

Just boot into recovery mode (amon Ras recovery mode) then click on partition sd card fat32+ext2+swap and that’s it.

Hello Drew,

That is because your friend sending them to you’s phone has a crappy camera and then is compressing the pictures. Doesn’t have to do with your phone.
Right now I’m using an actual Hero phone, so my ROM wouldn’t help you, sorry. Evil is a good one though, but there is no harm in trying different Hero ROMS until you get one you like.

Hello Victor,

Virtual ROM? Do you mean swapper and the “virtual RAM” it creates?
If thats what your referring to, then the swap section the partitioning created is for that reason and it is 32mbs. Making it larger than that doesn’t really make it any faster (from my experience, but others say it does. Either way it would be terribly minute) and your ROM should automatically have swapper set to 32MBs to begin with so you shouldnt need to do anything besides load the ROM after you have partitioned.
As for ext2 vs ext3 they are just different formats with ext3 being a newer format that is supposed to be faster than ext2. That’s all.
Hope that clarifies some things.

I downloaded the new donut 1.6 update with the advanced settings. It is cool in the sense that the OS runs a great deal faster on the Android Rom than the HTC Hero, and the Market has a new look/functionality. However, I love the Hero Rom, but it Forecloses all the friggin time and even with task killer, sending apps/delik to SD, the Rom still is slow.

Is this because the G1 Ram is less compared to the actual Hero? Meaning nomatter what Hero Rom you put on the G1 the OS will still be slow?

Second, The Touch Flo Rom works good and the Jac Hero Roms don’t at all. When I go to flash any of the Jac Hero Roms it gets all the way to the Home screen and then a bunch of foreclosing occurs…trying to upload Google Maps, Gmail, etc… I saw that he had put out a newer version of that Rom with the option to install 10mb more Ram. Would like to do that but unfortunately foreclosing occurs?

Sorry so long. I love the ability to fluctuate between different roms and I greatly appreciate you and this site…more than helpful. Need some help with the JacHero Rom uploads, they are the only ones that I cannot successfully flash?

Boot into recovery with the first file on the SD card renamed to update.zip (not the expansion pack). Hit Wipe Data and then Apply Update.
Then download the Expansion pack and do the same.

Answered my own question. If anyone is struggling with flashing the new JacHero 2.2 a or b, and you have done everything else properly, make sure that once you wipe the data and flash the new Rom, once done, take out the battery and load that way instead of Rebooting. It worked for me and it is frickin awesome. Highly recomend.

Yeah, JAC is far better than Evil. Only issue I noticed so far (since I flashed it last nite) , it FC on people search, but rest sounds good (except the Sound is not recorded in Video Camera).

To do a clean install, boot into recovery mode and repartition the memory card (fat32+ext2+swap) just to erase everything in there. Then put the ROM you want on the sd card like normal and rename it to update.zip (you will need an SD card adapter to do this as you won’t be able to turn on the phone since you have hero and the card was reformatted). And then click Wipe Data and Apply update.
Otherwise, if you don’t want to go through the hassle of using the SD adapter if you don’t have one, then just Wipe Data and Apply update. And if it wont boot up THEN do the reformatting wipe and apply again.

Themes will only work on the ROM they were designed for. So they only are designed for custom ROMs. So long as you have a custom ROM and can find the theme for it you can use that theme.

It gives you internal root access… Too be honest Id recommend just loading the second donut ROM we have on there (with the sprinkles on it lol) and you don’t have to load an expansion etc.

Hello Justin,

Because HTC didn’t make an update yet and because here in the US the Hero is not very popular (and most of the Devs are based in the US), no popularity no reason to make ROMs I guess.
There isn’t a big difference in Donut anyway (mostly stuff for developers), it will be out eventually no rush.

You need to install the donut with sprinkles rom from our downloads section and youll have donut (1.6) with root wifi tether and 5 homescreens.

joson downloan the firstone… 1.4 and you will see 2 files 1 is a pack and the other one it is a zip file. downloan the zip.

if you have a g1 go format the sd card forst and then tranfer the zip file to your g1. and

wipe data aply update. reboot. and all done….

it works fast. hero rom work really slow on my g1. but this one works really nice.. andfrom your phone google wifitether download. and you are good to go.

No need to erase everything off of the card (unless you get stuck on in a boot loop). Just wipe data in recovery and apply update (so long as your card was partitioned in the first place if using a Hero ROM).

If the ROM you are using has glitches, then just look for an update to the ROM or try a different ROM (there are plenty to choose from).

We don’t know what causes it, it seems to happen randomly with certain ROMs on certain phone. Just use a different ROM until one works, nothing else we can do for now.

The Modaco ROMs are for the actual Hero phone. Do NOT load them on anything but the real Hero. Some of the Hero ROMs for the MyTouch are based on Modacos ROMs though, like Maxisma and JACHeroski, use those.

Hello Jony,

Turn off the phone and turn it back on by holding down back and power. You’re radio is listed at the top.
You need to format fat32+ext2+swap again and then Wipe Data from the recovery and then flash the Maxisma ROM.
Yes, look in the Forums under Modifying/ROMs for how to flash a new recovery image.

Goto Support > Internet/MMS Settings on our site and put them in to your phone under Settings >Wireless Controls > Mobile Network Settings > Access Point Names then delete whatever APN is there by holding down on it and click Menu > New APN to put in the new one with the settings listed for your carrier.

Any ROMs that say 32B next to them… so long as you did OUR 1 click root, and OUR how to load a ROM procedure (this way you have a partitioned SD Card and the good recovery image).

No Hero ROMs will be a bit laggy, but so long as you have the partitions etc. set up the ROMs will automatically turn some of you SD card into virtual RAM (swap) and that will make it bearable. But experiment with different ROMs some are smoother than others.

Read the How to Load a Custom ROM for the MyTouch or G1 post and it tells you how to see and where to get them.
Keep in mind that the new SPL and Radio are only needed for the G1, if you have any other phone then just download and install the ROM.

Hey just loaded Motoblur ROM, keep getting force close if i hit it just pops up again, endless cycle. It gets past the G1 screen the motoblur splash screen then thats when it pops up. I appreciate any help!

Hey unlockr, so i have rooted my myTouch with your one click process and followed every step on how to load a rom. I’ve tried a few Hero ROMS now on my MAGIC(Partioned SD) 32b but I’ve had to take them off due to the slow performance (Loading Screen MSG) Can anyone recommend a good Hero ROM that doesn’t have this loading screen issues or will I be forced back to the original MAGIC Rom hope not

the hero rom i’m using used to be very slow and loading all the time until i downloaded overclock widget from the market and adjusted the min and max frequency to 528 and now it runs way better, faster i love it. hope it helps

I got the 32B and folowed the instructions. The only one I got to work as hero rom was the one of qteknology. I got two questions. 1.The Wifi says unable to turn-on. Though the tether works fine. 2.Its slow. I put an 8gb which is almost empty but dont know if there is anithing better. Thanks.

The file is an (.apk) and it was installed with linda file manager. Unfortunately, no. The APKs that we would want, like Rosie, the Widgets, etc. are not standalone apks. They require the framework that HTC has put into Android for them to work properly. Trust me, when Hero first came out, that was the very first thing everyone tried to do…. but you need the entire ROM, framework and all.

Just skip the wipe data step. then if the phone gets stuck on the boot screen then go back, wipe and reapply the rom.

Hey unlockr! thanks for this great guide. i have only trusted you with rooting guides lol. i was scared to try the others.

I tried many roms and some are good and some arent. I had no problems flashing them.

However, i tried to flash maxisma 2.0, 2.1 (the recommended rom) but how do i do it? For the other roms, you just wipe/factory default and then flash the rom.

when i tried maxisma 2.0, 2.1, after i flashed and rebooted it takes me back to the recovery screen and it says “Rebooting…..”

and maxismas instructions were… wipe, wipe sd, flash 2.0, flash 2.1 without wipe.

I cant get that to work. would you please help out with this problem here… when he says wipe sd, which option do i choose… wipe davlik cache, or wipe ext or part sd.

Can you provide steps for flashing this rom? i really want to try this one since it has working LED and bluetooth.

I figured it out. If anyone else is having problems with flashing maxismas 2.0, 2.1 heres how to do it:

Wipe Data/Factory default
Wipe ext partition
Flash 2.0
Flash 2.1 (without a wipe)

Unfortunately, you would either have to cook your own ROM and take what you like and dont like and put it together, or wait for a developer to make a ROM you do like.

Is the Original Rogers for 32A really a ROM or a Nandroid backup?

I tried this ROM with the One Click method in your video and it didn’t work got a “signature” error. I ended up using MyHero 2.04 instead – really nice!

Can you confirm on the Rogers ROM the process for installing? I doesn’t seem to take kindly to using the update.zip method.

I was reading through some of these last posts about trying out different ROM’s on this site. I personally have tried quite a few; Touch Flo, Jac Hero, Motorola Blur, Original Donut 1.6, Android 2.0, and Dwang Android 1.6.

Unlockr stated that if you wanted a Rom that had what was intended for it that you would have to wait for the manufacture to put it out. In addition, this site provides a melting pot of ideas collaberated together to form the posted ROM’s above. I agree.

Some things that I have come to realize is that no matter which ROM you use, eventually you will either get bored with it or find that it is too slow.

For the HERO Rom’s above- Jac Hero by far the best. Still a little slow and force closes a lot, especially with SMS/MMS Texting programs. The Maxisma Hero ROM is pretty sweet, unfortunately it is not a simple click and download ROM, you have to register to a site and then able to download. If you can get the Jac Hero or Maxisma Hero ROM you will dig it.

I currently am using the Dwang Android 1.6. This Rom is by far the best one in terms of function that I have used. I guess until the HTC Hero official kernal produces a sweet Hero Rom for my G1 and/or the 2.0 comes out first, this will probably be the Rom I stick with.

Sorry for the banter, but I felt it might be helpful for those who haven’t flashed some of these Rom’s to know which ones work the best.

Unlockr?- Any word on any new Hero Roms coming out with the actual Hero kernal being released? That would be sweet. And or I might buy an unlocked phone from Europe, minus the 3G service): Those phones are dope and I think I might be able to live with out it. WiFi!

There is a myriad of ROM out there and looking through the XDA it is hard to figure out which one is the best one to use. I can for now just live with the regular android but want the added features like mutitouch, added screens etc..looked at the Hero Roms but all seem too have some issues.

I need your help to get my phone working again. I bricked my myTouch trying to gain root access.

Now the phone wont even turn on. When I plug the usb cable to the phone and pc the led at the top of the phone turns orange and then I can do the volume down + power button.

So I can’t access bootloader or recovery. The only thing that works is the blue led trick when pressing trackball + power button.

So I was wondering, how screwed am I. can we recover for this. Well if your reading this and respond thanks in advance.

So after about 10 hours of trying to get this right, I ended up with QTek Hero ROM. I initially was trying to load the regular Donut 1.6, but after leaving my phone on for about 20 minutes it remained stuck at the “MyTouch” green screen. So i’m excited to have my phone working and i really like the Hero actually =)

SO HERE IS MY ISSUE:
After installing the Hero ROM, I noticed that the firmware version is still 1.5, so there are application differences it seems (from the market), and I was wondering how i can upgrade it or if i can upgrade it to “Donut” or 1.6 or if that is only a MyTouch thing… I”m really new at this. Thank you for your time though!!

There is no Donut Hero Builds as there is no Donut for the Hero. HTC announced that they will skip Donut and goto Eclair (2.0) when ready. So It’s either Hero with 1.5 or Donut without Hero.

Hey, you should add MLIGN 3.2B up there for g1 and mytouch. It works nice (Everything works, wifi, BT, etc) and the LEDs fully work. The g1 can just flash it when they have the right spl/radio/partitions but the mytouch 3g users have one more step. after flashing the rom. they got to flash twisted’s depot. (depot.zip). and it works on the mytouch. I got it on my mytouch and I love it. Best Hero ROM.

How did you install the 3.2B. Did you flash the deport.zip first as update.zip then install the 3.2B as update.zip after or the other way around.

I saw the 3.2B in action and want to install it on my MT3G. I didnt see any instructions on how to install it on MT3G on MLIGNs thread but that thing is like 100 pages long though.

If you could write the steps you took to install it that would be awesome. what radio and spl are you running?

somebody please help lol i have a t mobile mytouch when i bought this i was told it was the g2 the upgrade form the g1 ( not and updated modded g1) im annoyyed by this i rooted my my touch some how idont remember if it was the one click or not or how i did it but i have tried hero rom after hero rom and i have found some sorta smooth ones but the smooth ones dont let me recive phone calls or wifi (wth) i really could use some help i saw one more thing on u tube this youg kid did a hero rom and then he partioned his sd on a red mytouch my my touch dose not offer that option or that rom would have been more then satisfying but that rom was one of the many that would not let me recive phone calls and so on can any one help ????

No. Unlocking is a separate process. We unlock phones here though, just click on Unlocking at the top right of the site, it’s $24.95 to unlock a phone.

All the ROMs that say Hero ROM have TouchFlo. You can also use the search at the top to find new roms. Type MyTouch Hero ROM and see what comes up.

I’ve follower all the staps how to root Tmo-myTouch and everything went fine. The phone is rooted and I can get into the recovery image; however, whenever I try to flash any rom I get stuck on the myTouch green screen. I went back and wiped and formated the card many times but nothing.
I did have my phone rooted with the one click method before and ran many custom roms and wanted to start from scratch and now I can’t install any roms.
As I said, I can do fastboot as well as load the recovery image, but when I install a (any) custom ROM it just gets stuck on myTouch screen.
Any idea? Thank you.

Just wondering, pretty much a noob when it comes to phone roms. is there a donut rom that has the home screen that goes landscape as well as the memory hack and only three home screens. I’ve been through all the 32b roms I can find, two different recovery images and rooted and unrooted about 5 or 6 times trying to get this phone how i want it. i am too damn picky i know. i dont need tether or a lot of all the advanced stuff. One thing I hope is that someone will build a theme soon. Cos the only thing I would like to comment is about the widgets. Its too “cartoon” like. If you have a look at the icons on the top bars (battery, signal, etc) and compare to the ones on the Hero, the ones on the Hero looks more “real”. Other than that, this phone is perfect!

Well hear is the problem, I just unrooted from 1.6 to 1.5 so i can put a hero rom on my Mytouch 3G.i put rec. img recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3 and i followed the video and text and after every reboot i stll have 1.5

You have to make sure you have formatted the card correctly since a lot of the ROMs use the memory card to increase RAM (since the mytouch lacks it compared to the Hero etc.).

I’m currently running eclair 2.1 on a rooted g1. Mid version KingKlick , but it doesn’t support flash us there another eclair as good as this one that supports flash. And I’m also having trouble wire tethering also.

Having a custom ROM does not stop you from getting OTAs. Also when an OTA comes out, you can always just update your custom ROM (Cyanogen will put the OTA in his ROM probably faster than you would ever get the OTA yourself anyway). As for Flash, no such update yet.

Mytouch Lover – I loaded this the other day on a MT3G 8gb Class(6) and it was very buggy and laggy. It really sucked. I have loaded many android 1.5-2.1 roms with the HTC Sense UI’s and for me I have found that the best one is JacHEROSki-v2.2 – Experimental B with the 10mb hack. Besides the Force Close on boot and the “Loading” when jumping back to the home screen, it runs just as if I had bought it from the store. The Wireless Tether has a Kernal error message however if you hit ignore a few times it finally starts. I use the wifi to run my IPOD Touch 3rd.

NEVER install a firmware that is not for you phone. So do NOT load the Nexus Software on your Magic, only load ROMs from the Magic section and only ones that are 32A.
Don’w worry about radios and SPLs unless the ROM you want to load says in the post that it requires a certain SPL and Radio.

The end all fix for stuck on a logo:

1. Format the SD card (in recovery mode)
2. Check to make sure the ROM is for YOUR PHONE AND YOUR MOTHERBOARD, then put the ROM on the SD card (through recovery mode, USB Toggle)
3. Wipe data / factory reset (in recovery mode)
4. Reflash the ROM (in recovery mode)

The Desire has yet to be rooted fully, once it is there will be a lot of ROMs you can put on it. As for the stock Euro ROM from HTC, that won’t load on your Desire since it checks the model ID (and Telstra probably locked it out for obvious reasons).

Is there any root procedure or roms for the huawei ascend 2 cricket available? It comes with android 2.3 but I always perfer root with cyanogen roms.

I have HTC evo. I have cm7and I can’t go into any app except web…my home screen is blank which happened after the factory reboot…I can only pull down my status bar and press keys which bring me no where. What could have happened. How to fix it. And I can’t download any programs because I can’t get into my market.

i have the samsung behold 2, which came with android 1.5, then an update came for 1.6 and that was it, i would really like to install android 2.2 or 2.3 or even 3.0 if i can, just want to know how can i manually do it? im pretty sure it can be done, just would like to know how?
