Samsung today revealed their newest Android phone; the Samsung Galaxy S. Yea it’s not the best name choice (only similarities to the Galaxy are that they both have no physical keyboard and both run Android), but that little S on the end, makes all the difference.

Here are the released specs on the new Samsung Galaxy S:

Processor: 1Ghz Samsung Processor
Screen: 4″ SUPER AMOLED Capacitive Touchscreen
OS: Android 2.1 WITH Smart Life UI
Camera: 5MP w/720P HD Video Recording
Other: New Smart Life UI (Samsung’s new UI interface based on TouchWiz)

Super AMOLED is a nice addition and is just a step above the AMOLED screens that are just coming out (and becoming the standard soon enough). Instead of having a separate layer on top of the display to handle touch inputs, the Super AMOLED actually has touch sensors in the screen itself. What does this do? Well it gives you the great color and brightness of an AMOLED and make it as Super thin as possible.

The other new thing here is the Smart Life UI, unfortunately, Samsung did not give a full run through of the UI, but it is supposedly a smoother and more intuitive version of their SmartWiz UI that shipped on the T-Mobile Behold II.

So with all of these Snapdragon Android phones in the same form factor, how does one decide on which one to get?

    I have no idea what to get now, with my out dated G1 i want a new phone but which to get. Nexus, HD2, Galaxy, or X10. And knowing HD3 is already in the works makes me just want to wait another 6-12 months. There is always going to be something better…

    I hope this phone goes to tmobile I like this phone. I wonder who’s gonna carry the bada os. I know it’s nothing like the andriod but can grew like it.

      They haven’t announced which carrier, just announced the phone itself.

    From what I understand samsung s 1 g prossessos is faster than the snap dragon. Amold is dope too but I want a 4 in screen and a keyboard! Levo has that detachable keyboard…. that’s cool like to se more like this

    Agreed, it’s a 1ghz processor but like no other. this is not your watered down qualcomm snapdragon chip like on the Nexus one but an A8 ARM Cortex w/turbo GUI that can process 90 million triangles per second. It’s almost unheard of for a smartphone.
