Yeah, says Gizmodo whose source supposedly got to play with a live one recently and yes, it might be manufactured by Samsung instead of HTC.  And if you thought the N2 is anything like its predecessor, think again; according to the source, the device is very much like the Galaxy S in many ways down to its color, its curved corners, and also the 4-inch AMOLED display that makes Sammy’s Galaxy series so popular although it could be a bit leaner (the picture below is just a mockup).  Also noticed was a front-facing camera (for the upcoming video chat feature on 3.0, we presume) and an “extremely buggy” Android build, which most likely could be the Gingerbread with all its kinks still in place.

We don’t mind Samsung modeling the N2 after its most successful phone and we even understand the mentality behind this; after all, why change a design if it’s already a hit, right? Still, we would have much expected something more groundbreaking like the Nexus One was when it was released and while we still aren’t sure if it’s the real thing or not, we sincerely hope it isn’t.

    Much as I love my Nexus, I’m pretty envious of that 4″ display I see all of my friends using. And the Nexus touchscreen is actually pretty horrible — so bad as far as I am concerned that I’m not sure I believe everything I hear about HTC build quality. And too, the Nexus, and I’m not sure if this was Google’s fail or HTC’s fail had a very limited amount of memory, especially compared to the Samsung units shipping with 16G internal + SD card.

    So I’m very okay with allowing another manufacturer to bring the follow on. (Just so long as Tyrell gets the N6).

    In addition to a Google Talk supported front facing camera that is released with a iPhone version as well, I’d like to see bluetooth keyboards supported.

    (I’d really like to see X Windows or some remote display technology supported, so I can get rid of my laptop, carry my phone around, and have it pop up its displays on the closest computer of my choice.)

  • I was looking into getting the MT4G but since so many Android devices get released I want to wait and see what the Nexus will bring.

    I was hoping for a HTC release but I have to agree with Jerry the samsung’s do have allot more memory on them and if they put a next generation proccessor in the Nexus 2 then I will definatlly jump ship to Samsung’s
    Nexus 2. And if they allow easy root and a ton of RAM this will be the best phone ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I just bought the G2 thinking that since it was stock android it would be a good replacement for my nexus 1,
    boy I was wrong, this phone is great but the best part for a IT person owning a Android phone is rooting period.
