Pantech Vega Xpress boasts of DDR2 memory, limited to South Korea

We thought 2011 was gonna be a good year for the mobile tech, but this good, we never imagined.  Pantech’s Vegas Xpress has all the usual bells and whistles worthy of an Android 2.2 smartphone, like a 4-inch multitouch display of 800 x 480 resolution, 5-megapixel camera, 802.11n WiFi, and if we are not mistaken, GPS and the like crammed in.  But what takes the cake is the inclusion of DDR2 RAM to run the Android 2.2 operating system, that’s right, the Korean company has gone ahead and put in what is right now powering my PC to write this article.  It does fail to specify exactly how much of it is available but according to the company, we should be looking at a very big boost in 3D graphics processing and a two to threefold increase in power efficiency from its 1500 mAh battery.

Tall claims for sure, but we may never get a hands-on to verify, since the Vega Xpress is limited to the Korean market right now.  As for the other mobile manufacturers, they should definitely be taking a leaf out of Pantech’s book with their future devices in the upcoming years.
