Gingerbread Update For Sprint SPH-p100 Samsung Galaxy Tab

It’s a good day for Sprint branded Samsung Galaxy Tab users as Samsung has released the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS software update for the SPH-p100 device. This upgrades the Galaxy Tab from Android 2.2 (Froyo) to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and includes several software improvements.

Users will recieve notification on their screen panels about the Gingerbread OTA (over the air) update. Otherwise the Gingerbread update can be done manually. To obtain the update manually follow the instructions below,
Move to Menu –> Settings –> About Galaxy Tab –> System Update –> Update Android –> Update Now / Restart & Install –> Reboot –> Finish downloading the update –> Done.

The update will show the build number of the software as SPH-P100.EF17 after finishing the installation of Gingerbread update. Highlighted benefits include bluetooth HID support, power management enhancements, and fixes for VPN.

Here is how to check the software version on your Samsung Galaxy Tab

  1. Press the Home button > Menu button.
  2. Touch Settings > About My Galaxy Tab.
  3. The Build number and Baseband version show the current version on your mobile device.
