How to Root the Motorola Defy+

Rather than focusing on software features, Motorola has tried to make their Defy series smartphones physically stronger and that clearly seems with its first launch, the Motorola Defy. The device was scratch-resistant and had no bad effect of water when dropped in a glass of water. And now Motorola has come up with the successor of the Defy, the Motorola Defy+. This new device promises to provide better features than the original Defy and the specifications prove that, the device now has a 1GHz of processor and 1GB of RAM, almost double than the original one. A root method has become available for the Defy+ and to help you guys out with it, here we’re presenting a guide that will teach you how you can root your Motorola Defy+ smartphone.

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting the device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. You must be running on the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.

3. The following procedure works on Windows based PCs only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Root Package

III. Rooting the Motorola Defy+:

1. Place the Root Package archive on the Desktop of your PC.

2. Extract files from the archive to your Desktop.

3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by simply heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.

4. Once enabled, connect your device to your PC via USB cable.

5. Double-click on the Defy-plus rooten.bat file you extracted to your Desktop.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

7. And you should be rooted now!

Congrats! Your Defy+ has been successfully rooted and you can confirm the root access by downloading an app called Root Checker.

IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):

1. If you would like to flash a custom recovery image in order to flash custom ROMs, head to the How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the Motorola Defy+ to learn how to do that.
