How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 running Froyo

While we already have a root guide for the Galaxy Tab P1000 running Gingerbread, some of our users have requested us to make a procedure for the aforementioned device running Froyo. So for those users, here’s the procedure that explains how to root the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 running Froyo:

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. Make sure your device has at least 50% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. z4Root APK (It’s attached in the first post)

III. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 running Froyo:

1. Place the z4Root APK file on your Desktop.

2. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

3. Copy the APK file over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once the file’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. On your device, head to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development and enable the USB debugging option.

6. Open the File Manager app on your device and install the APK you copied earlier.

7. Once installed, open it from your App Drawer.

8. Hit Permanent Root option in the app and it’ll root your device.

9. Sit back and relax as the app will automatically root your device.

10. And you’re done!

Congrats! Your Galaxy Tab P1000 has been successfully rooted and the doors to root have been opened!

IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):

1. If you would like to flash a custom recovery image in order to flash custom ROMs, head to the How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 to learn how to do that.

  1. Hello there!!! Congratulations for this excellent site!!!

I did all the root process (item I,II and III) in my GT-1010, Froyo.UJKM5, kernel 2.6.32.9 and firmware: 2.2.2 but, unfortunely, After I openned ROM Manager I saw the message saying me “You need a super user access to use ROM manager application …” so I understand that my device is not rooted.

    Please Help me!!!!!!!

    1. Do you have the Superuser OR SuperSU app installed on your device? Just look for these apps in your App Drawer, if these aren’t there, just head over to the Google Play and download either of the aforementioned apps.

When you open the ROM Manager app, it’ll ask you to grant Superuser access, simply hit the “Grant” button that appears in the prompt and it should let you go ahead.

      Hope it helps!

Froyo only. If you want the Gingerbread version click the link at the top of the How To.

  2. Disaster!

Hello there! please i tot I had succesfully upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3 on samsung Kies and I proceeded to flash a custom memory on it-meant for 2.3, not my 2.2. The flash was successful but now my phone wont boot again nor enter recovery mode. Any help out of this mess? Please help

  3. Guys,I want to dot his,but it seems to take forever.People suggested to take the battery off,but how?
THIS IS GALAXY TAB SO HOW DO YOU TAKE THE BATTERY OFF -_-

    1. Hello Michael,

You don’t need to remove the battery from your device. The app’s supposed to work fine without any lag on your device.

Make sure your device’s clean (it’s not infected by any malwares, etc) and then re-do the procedure. It should work fine then.

      Thanks!
