Windows Phone 101: How to Block Phone Calls and SMS from Specific Contacts (Video)

Sometimes there are people that simply can’t take a hint. Whether it’s an ex, a pesky “friend”, or that person you randomly gave your number to the night before and then quickly forgot about, there’s a way to help fix the issue. On Windows Phone 8 devices with this installed, you can actually select certain contacts and add them to a blocked list. Once on that list all of their texts and phone calls will simply never display. Ah, that’s better.

1. Go to Settings.

2. Go to Call and SMS filter.

3. Turn it on.

4. Go to the phone app.

5. Go to call history.

6. Hold down on the caller’s number within history and select block.

7. Simply remove them from the blocked list in the Call and SMS filter settings to unblock them.

  1. I have a Windows 8 phone – Nokia 920. Under settings there is now Call+SMS Filter option. I have ATT as a carrier. Thoughts?

  2. I have a Nokia 920 too. I have it. I have AT&T too. Windows 8. Go to settings. Then scroll down until you find it. Its really far down the list so u gotta look for it. Don’t blink you’ll miss it.
