How to Root the Acer beTouch E140

Do you think your Acer beTouch E140 isn’t worth anything as there’re thousands of great smartphones available out there? You may be wrong. With the availability of a root method for the said device, you can now have a lot of fun with your device regardless of how old it is and what firmware it runs. Rooting is the first thing you should do if you want to have control over all the elements of your device. It lets you modify system files, install root-only apps, to name a few. So if you’ve made your mind and want to root your device, here’s how you can do that:

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. Your device should have at least 40% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Androot APK (Download link’s given in the second post)

III. Rooting the Acer beTouch E140:

1. Download and place the Androot APK file on your Desktop.

2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy the Androot APK over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once the file’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. Open the File Manager app on your device and install the APK you copied earlier.

6. Once the APK has been installed, open it from your App Drawer.

7. Hit Go Root button in the app and it’ll start rooting your device.

8. It’ll let you know once your device’s been rooted.

9. And you’re done!

Great! Your device’s been successfully rooted using the Androot app and you now have a lot of opportunities to customize your device.

IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):

1. If you would like to flash a custom recovery image in order to flash custom ROMs, head to the How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the Acer beTouch E140 to learn how to do that.
