How to Root the BLU Life Play

Sick of using the same oldish apps on your BLU Life Play? Want to try out some of the latest root-only apps on your device? No worries, this guide should teach you how you can root your BLU Life Play and then get the custom development running on it.

Rooting is the process of gaining administrative rights on your Android device.  Once we root our Android device, we can then make changes to it to customize it well beyond what it normally can do.

Once you have root access on your BLU Life Play, you’ll be able to:

  • Remove apps that were preinstalled by your carrier/manufacturer from your device.
  • Free up storage space (because of the above benefit).
  • Increase battery life (apps that might have been running constantly can be removed).
  • Increase performance (after removing apps that are always running, the device will be less bogged down and run smoother).
  • Update to a new version of Android (by flashing a custom recovery/ROM, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).
  • Tons of other customizations when you use your new found administrative rights to flash a custom ROM (again, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).

  1. Does this framaroot works on BLU LIFE PLAY compilation number: BLU_L100i_V28_GENERICK (Kitkat 4.4.2)?

Using it get the next error: Failed 🙁 … Try another exploit if available (Error #9)

      1. I’ve tried the three of them, and everytime I do I get the same error.

The last time it worked, I was running jellybean 4.2 on my BLP, just before the upgrade to Kitkat

  2. Is it possible to get super user access prior to booting into the phone? For certain reasons, I am not able to even login to my phone (but I can see the OEM recovery console and sideload etc). However, I cannot flash a new image because (I think) I don’t have super user access – each time the installation starts and then aborts. And because I cannot boot into the phone, I cannot use this Framaroot.apk method either. I do have that ADT kit on my laptop. So is there anyway I can get super user access from before phone bootup?

    1. Hellu BluBoy,

This procedure requires your phone to be booted up to gain root. Unfortunately, you can’t root your device while it’s turned OFF or it’s on the boot screen.

Is your device bricked or what?
