How to Turn Your Droid Turbo into a Mobile Hotspot

Of course we all love checking out the innovative, cutting-edge features when we get new phone, but sometimes there are old features we still don’t know about, or simply never figured out how to use. I’m willing to bet that turning your phone into a mobile hotspot is one such feature. In general, people seem to know their phone has this capability, but I have yet to meet more than a few who have ever used it. But, guys, it’s actually a really useful feature! You can turn your Droid Turbo into a sweet hotspot that gives off wonderful, life-sustaining wifi rays- like a tiny, electronic internet sun- so that all your other devices can use the interwebs. What could be better? I know there are a lot of places with free wifi today, but you no longer have to worry about if that cafe has internet, since you’ve got a permanent supply in your pocket.

Granted, it took me a few minutes of finagling to get set it up. But lets be real, you’ve probably spent more time choosing a new wallpaper. Plus, it’ll be even faster for you all, since I’ve detailed all the steps below. So get to it, set up and use this feature! I’ve made it my mission to be the Oprah of wifi- You get a hotspot! and You get a hotspot! Everybody gets a hotspot!

See? Not so hard, right? You can use this newly enabled hotspot to connect any internet-capable device to the world wide web. But be sure to turn it off when you’re done, as it does eat up battery rather quickly. To do so, simply tap that blue check mark to uncheck it.  Now, help me feel like I’ve done my good deed for the day, and let me know all the times this hotspot trick comes in handy.

*As a reader pointed out–some plans require you to pay for a subscription that allows you to utilize the mobile hotspot feature on your phone. So, just be sure to check with your plan before hotspotting it up, friends.

      Hi Dave,
Thanks for pointing that out. While some plans do not require a specific subscription and will simply use your pre-existing data, you are correct that there are some that do require a subscription at an extra charge. So, thanks again, it’s always good to be vigilant about what stuff is/is not included in your specific plan.
