How to Get Android O Beta on a Nexus or Pixel

If you’re feeling a bit impatient, and can’t wait to start messing around with Android O and happen to have a Pixel or Nexus phone, then you’re in luck. Google released the beta alongside Google I/O for any Pixel or Nexus users that might want to check it out.

Now, of course, this is really meant for developers who need to test their apps on the latest version of Android, but, let’s be real, if you have a Pixel or Nexus, chances are you’re like me and just want to play with it and see what’s new.

We used to have to go through a process of flashing these new versions of Android via fastboot not so long ago, but now Google’s built in the ability to get the beta directly from inside Android’s own settings. Here’s how to get the Android O beta right now.

  1. Head to the Google Android Beta enrollment site and login with your Google account associated with your phone.Android O Beta Site
  2. Scroll down and tap Enroll now on the Pixel/Nexus device you want to use Android O on.Enroll Pixel
  3. Check off that you agree and tap Join Beta.Join Beta
  4. Go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates and after a few mins (can take a bit longer so be patient) you should see an update to the Beta. Tap download and Install.Install the Beta
  5. The phone will reboot after it downloads the beta and you’re all set. Enjoy!Android O App Drawer

Keep in mind that the beta is, well, a beta. So expect bugs, and things to just generally be a little wonky. If you ever want to go back to the original version of Android you had, simply head back to Google’s Android Beta site and Unenroll your phone and it’ll tell you it has a new update, you can tap that and it’ll install the beta.

Let me know if you guys find anything particularly cool in Android O!

Is this part of uninstall instructions correct?

        1. After it is installed it allows you to uninstall it. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. Feel free to post a screenshot of what you are referring to.

            No screenshot needed.
Please re-read the the instruction, especially note the bold high lighted part, it says it will install the beta.
