How to Hide Instagram Posts

If you were thinking about Spring cleaning your Instagram and getting your feed looking more cohesive (or maybe there’s some questionable photos you don’t want to delete but maybe shouldn’t have let be public) Instagram just launched a new feature to make that a lot easier to do called Archive.

Now, most people probably don’t need to do this type of clean up, but I know a lot of marketers/social media managers that actually like to scrub through their Instagram once in a while to remove posts that might have seemed perfect when they posted, but now don’t quite fit the overall look and feel they were going for (yes, most large Instagram accounts do this with their feeds honestly. Check out this short article on why it’s good for business here, if you’re curious).

Regardless of whether you’re looking to do something like that or maybe you just need to get rid of the ones you look less than presentable in, the new feature makes it a lot easier to do.

How to Archive Photos in Instagram

  1. In Instagram, head to your account by tapping the bottom right button.Photo to Archive
  2. Tap on the photo you want to archive (this will put it in a special archive section that only you can see but no one else can).Instagram Profile Page
  3. Tap the three dots at the top right and tap archive.Tap Archive
  4. Repeat until you feel like your feed is squeaky clean.Instagram Feed

To view the photos you archived, tap the new clock icon at the top right of your profile (you can also tap the three dots and un-archive to put it back).

Archived Photos

That’s it. Quick tutorial since it was a silently launched feature that I plan to use to clean up my Instagram and thought you guys might like to know about it. Let me know what you think and your own philosophies on Instagram feed cohesion.
