Nexus 7 Review (Video)

Google’s first tablet was announced back on the 27th of June and now it is finally arriving in the hands of consumers. This tablet has already caused quite a buzz on the internet, mainly because of it’s super competitive price point, but can it live up to the hype? Let’s find out in our review of the Nexus 7 running Android Jelly Bean.

Key Specs

  • 1.3Ghz quad core Tegra 3 processor
  • 12 core GPU
  • 800×1280 pixel 7″ IPS display
  • 8GB or 16GB versions
  • 1.2MP Front Camera
  • Bluetooth / WiFi b/g/n

Hardware / Styling

  • Sleek design, nice rubberized back (leatherish look and feel)
  • 7″ Screen, large enough to considered small enough to fit in your back pocket, gentlemen.
  • Minimalistic, simple styling.

  • Flawless. Thanks to it’s quad core processor and 12 core GPU, it can handle any game or app available for Android at the moment. Even managed to play Nintendo 64 games like Super Mario without any slowdown or glitching.

Rooting / Customization

  • Device already has been rooted so you can overclock it, load custom ROMs and themes, and add some functionality like Adobe Flash back into the mix. Check here for our tutorial.

  • Great performance
  • Good battery life
  • Slick look and feel
  • Fits in a guys back pocket
  • Above all, $200 price tag can’t be beat.

  • No Flash (but you can root to get it)
  • No rear facing camera (but if you install Google+ and Instant Upload on your phone you can see those photos on the device and you can take pictures with the front facing camera using a procedure here).
