How to Set Custom Vibrations on the iPhone (Video)

Remember when custom ringtones were cool? Everyone had them and even had different ones for each contact etc. But as phones evolved and we ended up getting more and more notifications, it seems we all, maybe even subconsciously, got sick of our phones making noise.

Enter the world of vibrate. Pretty much everyone I know has their phone on vibrate now opting for a buzzing instead of the ringtones of old. The downside is that most phones have a standard vibrate tone or one or two and, well, what’s the fun in that?

Well, you may or may not know it but iOS actually has a way of creating custom vibrations and you can even set different ones for different contacts.

Create a Custom Vibration for the iPhone

  1. Head to Settings.

From here, you can tap or hold your finger down to get a vibration you want then tap done to stop it from recording.

Tap Pattern

Once you come up with one you like, tap Save and from there you can use it for all notifications by just selecting it or you can set it for specific contacts, too.

Set a Custom Vibration for an Individual Contact

To do that go into Contacts, tap the contact you want to set it for then tap edit and you can set the one under ringtones for their call vibration and the one under text tones for their text vibrations.
