How to Unroot the Oppo R1L

If you’re reading this, it means the time has come for you to unroot your Oppo R1L. There could be many reasons why you want to unroot your device. Maybe the root-access didn’t deliver the functionalities that you were looking for, or maybe you’re going to it’s time to sell the device or even send it in for warranty.

Unrooting removes the root-access from your device and puts it back to a stock-like state.

Once you have unrooted your Oppo R1L, you will not be able to access any root-only apps on it nor will you be able to access system files using a system-level file explorer. These will become the things of the past, unless you re-root your device and start tinkering around again.

So without further ado, let’s see how you can unroot your Oppo R1L. Here you go:

Before You Begin

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here. If you didn’t use it to root your device, the following procedure may or may not work for you.

2. This procedure should only work on Windows based PCs as the tool that unroots the device is only available for Windows operating system.

3. This only removes root-access from the device. It doesn’t flash a stock firmware.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download iRoot and save it to your desktop.

III. Unrooting the Oppo R1L

1. Double-click on the iRoot setup file located on your desktop and follow the on-screen installations to install the tool on your PC.

2. When the tool is installed, double-click on its icon located on your desktop to launch it.

3. Turn ON USB debugging on your device. To do that, head to Menu > Settings > Developer options and checkmark the box that says USB debugging.

4. Plug in your device to your PC using a USB cable.

5. The tool should check if your device is rooted, and if it is, it’ll show appropriate options (it won’t show the root option if your device’s already rooted).

6. Click on Unroot in the tool and wait for it to unroot your device.

7. When it has done unrooting the device, it should say Unroot succeed.

8. Unplug your device from your PC.

9. Reboot your device.

10. You’re now unrooted!

And you’re all done.

Your Oppo R1L is no longer rooted and the absence of the SuperSU app in your app drawer confirms it.
