US Cellular Plans To Bring Back Contracts For Existing Customer Upgrades

US Cellular customers have been able to lock down a subsidized phone after completing a two-year contract without having to commit to another 24 month contract. This option was probably one of the greatest perks of staying with US Cellular. After all, most consumers aren’t too fond of having to sign their life away for another 2 long years. Sadly, that’s all about to change as the carrier plans to revert to its old habits. The changes are expected to go into effect starting July 27th or sometime during the end of this month. Here’s the official statement from US Cellular:

At U.S. Cellular, we are continually evaluating the entire experience we offer to our customers. Beginning later this month, all customers will be required to sign a 2-year contract when purchasing a subsidized device. In addition, a restocking fee of $35 will be introduced as an update to the 15-Day Excellence Guarantee policy and will be charged when a customer returns a device during the 15-day time period. These changes will allow us to invest in improving our customer experience and offering new products and services to our customers.

So, you may want to secure that upgrade prior to the July 27th change if possible.
