What is Unlocking a Phone?
Unlocking your phone is NOT to be confused with jailbreaking or rooting your phone. These are different procedures. Unlocking is for people who want to take a phone that is locked to a specific carrier and use it on another carrier. This only works for GSM phones (phones with a SIM card slot).
How Can You Unlock My Phone?
You let us know the IMEI and the Model and we can contact the carrier through a special agreement and get your unlock code for that device. There is no hacking involved, simply inputting a code to tell the phone it no longer needs to be locked.
To get a code, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page and we will get a code back to you within 24 hours usually. If for whatever reason we cannot get you your code, we will immediately refund your entire payment.

Hi,
I have a HTC Hero on Orange UK and wish to unlock it. Apparently HTC and Orange UK have put some restrictions in the firmware for this carrier that stops standard HTC Hero codes from unlocking this phone.

Unfortunately no, those aren’t “restrictions” per say they are features that just aren’t in the phone. You could load a custom ROM though that has a Hero build and those will have Exchange Support built in and HTC Sync which allows you to connect to Outlook.
Unlocking ONLY allows you to use a different SIM card than the one the phone is locked to, it does nothing else.

Unfortunately, the Sprint Hero is CDMA and most of your service providers in the world are GSM (they use SIM cards) so the phone wont work on their network. You can just buy an unlocked GSM Hero from HTC or somewhere and that will work just fine.
Orange uses SIM cards, correct?

Unfortunately, we found out that the Sidekick 2008 takes 3 to 4 weeks to unlock and costs $75 (I know lol). Let me know if you can find another place that can do it in less time/for less money, as that is what our supplier has told us.

Correct, for most phnes when you put the new unofficial sim into the phone it asks for a code. You just input it there. Some other phones you have to goto settings then Mobile Network or SIM etc and input it there.If you have a Blackberry search our site for How To Unlock a Blackberry and we have step by step instructions for them because they are a little more complicated.

You need to put your new companies internet settings in so the phone knows where to access the internet.
Push menu on the sign in screen and you’ll see APN. Create a new one with your new cmpany’s info and save it. Then select it and you will be able to log in.
Call your new service provider for their internet settings or check out support setting under internet/mms to see if it is already listed there.

So long as Telus is GSM (which I believe it is) then yes
Once we unlock it it can be used on any GSM network.
Now 3G is another story, since ever company uses different frequencies. So you would need to see what 3G frequencies the myTouch uses and then ask Telus (or find a Telus phone) and see what 3G it uses and if they match you’ll get 3G, if not then you wont. Same with any phone though.

Yes I can use a debit card, but I hope the code will work. because I asked in a mobile shop here and they told me that they bought codes from internet they were not working and the never got the money back.

Yes, but with CDMA phones we cannot just get a code. You need to bring the phone into a CDMA Unlocker because they have to literally plug the phone in and flash its firmware.

It can be unlocked. With GSM phones (phones that use SIM cards), there is no need to flash the firmware. you just have to purchase a code from a supplier, put a different SIM in and it asks for the code. Once you put it in, all done. No hacking or anything like that (the codes actually come from the manufacturers generally).
We can unlock the CLIQ but for some reason our supplier charges a little more (than the $25 we charge) and it takes up to 10 days to get the code back.
If you want us to get the code for you just purchase on here and we can send you a separate invoice for the extra $10 I think they charge (total of $35).

It doesn’t work that way for the iPhone. The iPhone is the only phone that does not have unlock codes, you need to run an application to reprogram your iPhone to accept a different SIM card.

Rooting does not unlock your phone. Separate procedures.
You cannot use a CDMA phone (phone without a SIM card) on a GSM service provider (SIM card required). So Verizon (CDMA) will not work on T-Mobile (GSM)

We can try but too be honest we really just unlock GSM phones (most CDMA phones require flashing and cant be unlocked by codes like we do). But again like I said we can try, we’ll either get the code or have a refund for you within 24 hours.

I’m not sure it it’s unlocked, I don’t think it is unlocked, the t-mobile sim card does not work when in the phone that is for sure. I read some where that Vodafone had stopped locking there phones, which would suggest that the issue might be with the t-mobile sim – can sim cards be locked?

Unlocking and rooting are two different things. Unlocking is done so you can use a different SIM card and does not matter what OS version you have, is that what you want to do? Or you looking to root it and load ROMs?
