Motorola CLIQ 2.1 Software Upgrade Is Pushed Back To Early Q4

Unfortunately many of the CLIQ owners expected to get their 2.1 or at less a 1.6 update but Motorola announced the CLIQ will get its 2.1 update late Q3 or early Q4. In the announcement there is no reason that has been given why Motorola delay the update once again.

The Motorola CLIQ was release with 1.5 and back in January Motorola confirmed the phone will get a 2.1 update. At first it was thought that the update will come out in Q1, then it was push back to Q2, then again pushed back to Q3, and finally it is pushed back to Q4. Many CLIQ users have been hoping for any update at all to fix the major bugs that been on the CLIQ for nine months now. Some of the bugs include the phone calling without any buttons being pushed, the phone shutting off and turning on by itself, the touch screen some times works, and many other problems.
Hopefully, the CLIQ will get a well desire update soon and when/if Motorola releases the update we will tell you about it.
In the meantime, if you want to upgrade your CLIQ on your own with a little rooting magic, head over to our How To’s for the CLIQ.
Please comment and tell us your thoughts on this.

I don’t even see this update coming in q4. Most likely since tmo is bringing the cliq and cliq xt to end of life october 4 they left us hanging and lied along

The funny thing about the Cliq is everyone I talk to in both T-Mobile and Motorola said the Cliq shouldn’t even came out. It was some prototype or something

Regardless of whether or not the phone was ment to be released for purchase is irrelevant since it was in fact released to consumers. The fact is that these phones have a lot of potential for at least a 1.6 update and its long past due. When Motorola released a timeline that promised an update to 2.1 they pretty much promised it to cliq owners so if it doesn’t come out in Q4 like they’re saying it will that translates poor customer care and an all out disrespect for any Motorola android owner that didn’t jump at the chance to get a droid like they were hoping for. T-mobile and Motorola saying that it was supposed to be a prototype only sounds like they’re either saying the jokes on their customer for buying it or that they’re using it as an excuse as to why we as cliq owners don’t need/deserve an update.

This phone has a lot of potential but with motorola and tmo not caring about their customers and laughing when we bring up an update pisses me off. none of my touchscreen works. And it seems like they just don’t care. And if there is no update in the next month I’m done with tmobile and motorola for good.

Do not ever purchase a Motorola phone. If they did not keep releasing new phones every 2 weeks then they’d be able to support the phones they had. This is rather frustrating because all of the new apps that come out in the Android Market are not available on my phone. Motorola has waited until the last minute to make announcements about when the 2.1 update will happen and I doubt at this point it will even happen. Boo! What as consumers can we do to either get refunds or to make sure this does not happen again?
