How to Swipe your Hand Over your iPhone to Wake It from Sleep in iOS 7 (Video)

You’re jealous of Air Gestures on the Galaxy Android devices. They may not be the most functional of features, but they sure do have that show off factor (that Siri just isn’t giving you anymore). Too bad the iPhone doesn’t have that sort of functionality… or does it?

Thanks to a jailbreak tweak called SleekSleep, you can get at least one of the Air Gesture features on your iPhone (without having to compromise by having tons of other crappy Samsung software on your device). With SleekSleep, you can wave your hand over the proximity sensor at the top of the device to wake up and put your iPhone to sleep.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

*Don’t be scared, it’s easy to unjailbreak your device.

II. Install SleekSleep

1. Open Cydia.

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in SleekSleep.

4. Tap on SleekSleep when it shows up.

5. Tap Purchase at the top right and follow the prompts to login and purchase using your preferred method.

6. Tap Close when you’ve paid.

7. Tap Install where Purchase used to be.

8. Tap Restart.

III. Setup SleekSleep

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap on SleekSleep.

3. You can change settings here to your liking and adjust the sensitivity of the sensor, but I recommend immediately changing the Cooldown setting to zero and the swipes to 1 for a better performing tweak.
