How to Change Your Apple Watch Clock Face
Although not the first horse out of the smartwatch starting gate, Apple insinuates (via ad space) that they’re beating the competition one minute ahead of par. Sadly though, Apple is behind its competitors in a few other areas. Namely, a varied collection of clock faces. (Sure, Mickey Mouse is cool and all… but what about a singing bird clock face?!) Nevertheless, Apple has given its pioneer Watch patrons a few options to get the ball rolling. Keep reading to find out how to select and customize from Apple’s available pool of clock faces to make your Apple Watch really pop.
1. Double tap the Digital Crown to open the Clock app, or find it on the home screen and tap the icon to open.
2. Press down (Force Touch) on the clock face to pull up the Watch Face gallery.
3. Swipe right or left to choose from the list of available clock face templates. You can also swipe all the way to the right to create a new watch face by mix-and-matching preexisting modules.
4. Once you’ve chosen your desired watch face template, you can click on Customize to edit various parameters specific to the clock face you chose. (Bare in mind, not all clocks share the same set of customizable features.)
5. When you’re finished editing, click on the Digital Crown again to save and exit the Customize window.
Perhaps it’s only a matter of time, but Apple has yet to give third-party developers (such as Ustwo) free rein to design their own clock faces for public iOS consumption. In the meantime, Apple suggests checking for software updates regularly as they may come packaged with new watch faces.
