How to Enable a “Guest Mode” in iOS 7 (Video)
I don’t really have a problem with friends and family accessing my phone. However, I don’t like having to say my lock screen pass code out loud or tap in the code myself when trusted others want to use it. GuestMode is a great tweak that gives guest an option to access your phone, but without the ability to access certain apps that you have determined.
I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad
To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.
II. Install GuestMode
1. Open Cydia.
2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.
3. Type in GuestMode.
4. Tap on GuestMode when it shows up.
5. Tap Purchase at the top right and follow the prompts to login and purchase using your preferred method.
6. Tap Close when you’ve paid.
7. Tap Install where Purchase used to be.
8. Tap Confirm.
9. Tap Restart.
III. Configure GuestMode
1. Tap to open Settings.
2. Scroll down to GuestMode
3. Tap the switcher next to Enable.
4. Choose a method for guests to access your phone in guest mode.
5. (Optional) Tap the switcher next to Available in Lockscreen to enable guests access to your camera.
6. Tap the switchers next to enable certain guest privileges.
7. Tap Enabled Apps to select apps that guest will have access to.
IV. Use GuestMode
1. Assuming you already have a lock screen pass code enabled on your phone, press the physical lock/unlock button at the top right to put your iPhone to sleep.
2. Press the physical lock/unlock to wake your iPhone up and check to see if the method you set for guest access is working.
3. Notice apps that you did not enable to work in guest mode do not open.
