Android on top for Ad Impressions by OS
Millennial Media, a private mobile ad network, has released some graphs showing Android devices are about to top Apple’s iOS for operating system impressions. The chart above shows that shows Apple is at 46% while the Android is 29%. Android has grown from 6% of the mix OS smart phone market in March to 29% in September while Apple has dropped from 70% to 46% during the same period. Millennial found that smart phones are growing 7% each month and with smart phones currently being at 58% it will be sooner than later almost everyone has a smart phone. However, feature phones are experiencing their largest drop month to month by a 4% decrees. Meanwhile feature phones are at 29%, but it makes you wonder if the decrees have something to do with the cost of the coming up holidays and the bad economic times.
The main reason why smart phones are the high amount of Android phone being released, which. Consequently, is the reason why Android’s percent is growing. Android’s ad request has even grown 1,284% since last January, while Apple’s iOS having only grown 18 % in the same time period.
RIM continues to be at 19% and Windows is at 2%. Because of the new Windows Phone 7 and the high amount of phones with the OS on it this number might increase over time. The chart below shows the top cell phone manufacture.
The chart shows Apple at 30.22%, Motorola at 15.28%, Samsung at 14.1%, Blackberry 12.56%, and HTC at 4.81%. Just because a manufacture makes a lot of phones doesn’t mean it makes to date phones. There are many examples of manufactures making out of date products to release something now and make a quick buck then something worthwhile to have a long term gain.
