How to Make Text Selection Much Easier in iOS 7 (Video)

It can be a pain to stop typing, tap into the text field your working in, and then hold down and try and move through it to highlight what you need or even to just move the cursor around to get to the exact place you want. A jailbreak tweak called SwipeSelection seeks to fix that. When you install it, you can then swipe along the keyboard left and right to move the cursor through text and you can even hold down shift and swipe to highlight text. It may seem like a simple thing, but after you get used to it, it’s hard to go back to the old way. Here’s how to get it installed and use it.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

*Don’t be scared, it’s easy to unjailbreak your device.

II. Install SwipeSelection / SwipeSelectionPro

1. Open Cydia (if it isn’t still open from the section above).

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in SwipeSelection.

4. Tap on SwipeSelection when it shows up.

5. Tap Install in the top right corner.

6. Tap Restart.

III. Use SwipeSelection

1. Swipe along the keyboard keys to move the cursor within text.

2. Hold Shift on the keyboard with one finger and then move along the keyboard keys with the other to highlight text.
