Samsung Notebook 7 Spin, Notebook 9, and Notebook 9 Pen (Video)
Samsung showed off three new laptops today at CES. The Notebook 7 Spin, the Notebook 9, and the Notebook 9 Pen. Here’s what they’re all about.
The first is the Notebook 7 Spin.
It’s a 2-in-1 format with a 360 degree FHD 13.3″ screen. It’s Active Pen enabled but the pen is sold separately, has an 8th gen Intel i5 processor, 8GBs of RAM, and 256GBs of storage.
It has a dedicated fingerprint scanner for Windows Hello and has a far-field mic for the Voice note application for meetings or lectures (and even supposedly removes keyboard sounds when you’re running it and typing at the same time.
It has a backlit keyboard with 1.5mm of key travel, as well as a thankfully precision trackpad.
Ports include a USB-C, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and an HDMI.
Next up we have the new Notebook 9 laptop that comes in a 13″, 15″, and a 360 degree Pen model.
They are all made out of Samsung’s new Metal12 material that is an oxidized magnesium/ aluminum compound that makes them a lot lighter than they look.
All of them have a dedicated fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello but the Pen model comes with an IR camera to allow for Windows Hello facial recognition as well.
For power, they all have options of up to an 8th gen Intel i7, up to 16GBs of RAM, and the non-pen models can have up to a 1TB SSD whereas the pen can go up to a 512GB SSD.
For GPU, they all have Intel HD Graphics, but the 15″ model has the option for an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 which has 2GBs of GDDR5 memory).
Ports-wise, the 13 and 15 clamshells have USB-C (on the 15″ it’s also a Thunderbolt 3 port), 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, MicroSD slot, and the 15″ has an extra USB 2.0 port.
The Pen model has a USB-C, a single USB 3.0, and a Micro SD card slot.
The 13″ and the Pen model have a 13.3″ FHD RealView display while the 15″ has an obviously 15″ FHD display.
The Pen model comes with the pen, a smart move considering the name, and has a touchscreen while the other two do not.
The two standard laptop models have a 75Wh battery while the Pen model has a 39Wh one.
The Pen model also has the inclusion of Samsungs pen-enabled apps like Notes etc. and a neat feature to grab a section of the screen and automatically turn it into a gif which is novel and fun.
All of these devices have no pricing just yet but it should be announced soon as they will all be available in Q1.
