How to Add New Dynamic Wallpapers in iOS 7 (Video)

Dynamic wallpapers were introduced in iOS 7 and they are basically the same as live wallpapers from Android; a moving wallpaper. I, for one, love them, but unlike with Android, there are no ways to add other ones besides the ones Apple put on the device. That is, of course, if you aren’t jailbroken.

Thanks to a jailbreak tweak you can add new dynamic wallpapers to your iPhone or iPad. It’s a bit limited at the moment, but it’s pretty safe to assume that more and more will be added in the near future. All you have to do is download the tweak and then open it to choose the wallpaper sets you like, download them to the device, and then set them as normal. Here’s how to install the tweak and how to use it to set a new dynamic wallpaper.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

*Don’t be scared, it’s easy to unjailbreak your device.

II. Install iDynamic

1. Open Cydia.

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in iDynamic.

4. Tap on iDynamic when it shows up.

5. Tap Install in the top right corner.

6. Tap Restart.

III. Use iDynamic

1. Open the iDynamic App.

2. Tap on any collection of wallpapers you want to install.

3. Tap the check box at the top right to download it.

4. Tap Respring.

5. Go to Settings.

6. Tap on Wallpapers and Brightness.

7. Tap on Choose Wallpaper.

8. Tap on Dynamic.

9. Choose a wallpaper you like from the new collection.

10. Tap Set and choose whether to set it for the Home screen, Lock screen, or Both.

11. Repeat steps 1 – 10 in Section III to download and set other wallpapers.

IV. Return to Default Dynamic Wallpapers

1. Open the iDynamic App.

2. Tap on the last collection at the bottom for the original iPhone Dynamic Wallpapers or the second from the bottom for the original iTouch Dynamic Wallpapers.

3. Tap the check box at the top right to download it.

4. Tap Respring.

5. Go to Settings.

6. Tap on Wallpapers and Brightness.

7. Tap on Choose Wallpaper.

8. Tap on Dynamic.

9. Choose a wallpaper you like from the original collection.

10. Tap Set and choose whether to set it for the Home screen, Lock screen, or Both.
