How to Change the Color of the Icon Badges in iOS 7 (Video)

If you have enough of them, the red icon badges can clutter your home screen. Sure, you can turn them off, but they’re also useful, so there must be some sort of compromise. Indeed, you’ll find this compromise with the ColorBadges jailbreak tweak which will change the icon badge’s color from red to the dominant color of an app’s icon. For example, the badge for Mail would be blue, and green for Messages. This helps the icon badges blend into their respective app icons, and create less clutter on the home screen.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

II. Install ColorBadges

1. Open Cydia (if it isn’t still open from the section above).

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in ColorBadges.

4. Tap on ColorBadges when it shows up.

5. Tap Install in the top right corner.

6. Tap Confirm in the top right corner.

7. Tap Restart.

III. Use ColorBadges

1. ColorBadges starts working automatically after your phone has installed it and restarted. There are no further configurations to make.
