Cliq XT Gets a Update
T-Mobile’s Motorola Cliq XT is getting an update from Motorola that lets users have the latest version of Swype. Sadly this update is not the 2.1 update that Motorola has been promising for over a year, but this update should slightly improve some things. After downloading and installing the update you should see
- Overall Phone Performance Users will notice a significantly improved overall performance and responsiveness to input requests, including: opening applications, answering calls, opening the Happenings widget, and downloading attachments and pictures within email
- Additional Stability Improved stability, resulting in fewer occurrences of unresponsiveness and/or programs quitting unexpectedly
- Bluetooth® Performance Improved performance and connectivity with other Bluetooth devices
- Messaging Prevents erroneous notifications that a message has not been sent. Also resolves MMS sending / receiving functionality issues in certain scenarios
- Touch screen Improved touch screen sensitivity and touch response
- SWYPE® Keyboard Includes updates to the latest version of the SWYPE software, resulting in improved overall performance of the application
To install this update follow these instructions
- We recommend downloading the update over Wi-Fi or 3G (with a fully charged battery and active SIM card installed in your phone).
- Follow these steps to update your T-Mobile Motorola CLIQ-XT™:
- Upon receipt of the notification message, select Download.
- After the software is downloaded, select install now.
- After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
If you have difficulty with this update, visit us at http://www.t-mobile.com/Contact or http://www.motorola.com/mycliqxt.
There is no charge for this update other than your usual data connection costs.

Hopefully we will see this update move to the Cliq itself and hopefully we will see Motorola start to keep its promises soon so we can get some 2.2 updates on their phones. If you updated your phone please tell us if you see any major difference in before and after the update.
Nice but wait for android 2.1 for me is over I rooted my phone and put Barely Blured rom which is awesome! Its worth the time!
I agree, screw OTAs just root and do it yourself (with a better rom than the carrier would send you anyway). 🙂
Okay. I agree also but how do you get the OTA update messages to stop? Tired of hitting the later button
Hey so my cliq xt is rooted but doesn’t have Any rom, if I update it, what would happen with the root?
