How to Delete Files from Your NOOK
Have you downloaded a file on your NOOK that you wanted to read and then couldn’t figure out how to delete it from the device? This happens when you open a PDF or ePub book from the internet and it goes into the download folder on your NOOK. Well here’s a couple of quick and easy ways to get rid of those files (or edit the name, etc.). In the third part of this how to you will learn how to delete purchased items from your NOOK from the Internet.
I. Deleting the Files from Your NOOK
1. Press the ‘n’ button on the bottom of the NOOK.
2. The menu will pop up on the bottom of the screen. Press Library and on the upper right hand corner should be a button that says My Files, press that.
3. Here you will be presented with multiple files from your NOOK and/or your SD card if you are using one. Under My Files the NOOK folder is automatically selected, so if you need to delete something from the SD card you have to select it.
4. You should have a downloads folder and once pressed you should see all of your files that have come from the web, email attachments, etc.
5. If you hold your finger down on the file a small menu will pop up, at which point you can select delete.
II. Deleting the Files from Your Computer
1. Plug the NOOK into your computer using the USB device that came with it.
2. Under My Computer if you are running Windows, or on the desktop if you’re a Mac user, you should see a removable drive.
3. Double click to open the drive and once inside you should see different files for the various media on your NOOK (music, photos, videos, etc.).
4. From here you can delete and/or rename your files, or even add files if you need to by navigating to the proper folder and simply moving a file to trash, or dragging and dropping into a file if you are adding things.
III. Deleting Purchased Items From Your Library
1. Go to www.bn.com.
2. Sign into your account by using the ‘sign in’ link on the top right of the Barnes and Noble homepage.
3. Along the same menu bar there is a link that says ‘My NOOK,’ and once you click on that you should see a virtual library of everything you bought or downloaded from your NOOK.
Note: This is different from the procedure in part one and two because these items are strictly things you bought or downloaded directly from Barnes and Noble. Part one and two of this how to deals with files that you downloaded from the Internet, email or added to your NOOK manually. You will not be able to delete PDF files, music, photos, etc. from the Barnes and Noble website.
4. Now you can delete the books, magazines, newspapers, eTextbooks and apps from your NOOK.
5. The changes should be immediate.
