How to See ETA for Installing Apps in iOS 7 (Video)

Ever wondered how quickly your device downloads an app from the App Store? SmartviperE75 did, and he developed a tweak that lets you monitor the progress and details of a downloading app. For $0.99, you can double tap a downloading app’s icon in the home screen, and a little popup will appear giving you details for the download progress. It works and looks great, and is perfect for those of us who like to monitor downloads speeds and progress.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

II. Install AppETA

1. Open Cydia.

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in AppETA.

4. Tap on AppETA when it shows up.

5. Tap Purchase at the top right and follow the prompts to login and purchase using your preferred method.

6. Tap Close when you’ve paid.

7. Tap Install where Purchase used to be.

8. Tap Confirm

9. Tap Restart.

III. Configure AppETA

1. Tap Enable if it’s not already enabled.

• Don’t tap Respring yet, unless you’ve finished configuring.
• Double tap gesture means that you double tap the downloading app icon to bring up the AppETA details. Turn it off for single tap.
• Choose the alert theme from white, dark or custom in Alert Style.
• Icon On Alert merely lets leave or remove the app’s icon in the alert.
• Classic Progress Bar lets you turn on or off the classic iOS 6 installing progress bar at the bottom of an app.
• Label On Icon shows you progress in percentages.
• You can change the the label to show the estimated size remaining in Label Style.
• Change the Label On Icon Color.
• Default Progress will enable the default iOS 7 progress style to the downloading app icon.

IV. Use AppETA

1. Start downloading an app from the App Store.

2. Double tap the icon of the app that you’re downloading in the home screen.

• A popup will appear that gives you details on downloading and progress.
