How to Setup Apple Pay in iOS 8.1
With the announcement of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Apple also introduced us to their play in the mobile payment space aptly titled Apple Pay. Now with the release of iOS 8.1 we can finally use our iPhones to pay for things. Just like Google Wallet, using an iPhone 6 and Apple Pay is a contact-less payment system, meaning you hold your phone up to a terminal in the store to pay, nothing needing to be swiped like a credit card.
Here’s David with a video:
To setup Apple Pay with a compatible credit card:
1. Tap Settings.
2. Scroll down to and Tap on Passbook & Apple Pay.
3. Tap on Add Credit or Debit Card.
4. Tap on Add a new Credit or Debit Card.
5. Enter your card details here. You can also click on the Camera and let your iPhone try to recognize the numbers on it. Then Tap Next.
6. Read and Accept the Apple Pay Terms of Use for your credit card by clicking Agree.
7. Once you tap Agree you may get a Passbook pop up for location. I tapped Allow.
8. Your card may have a verification step. Mine allowed me to select to receive a text or email with a verification code that I had to enter in. I elected for Text Message and clicked next.
9. Once you receive the code go into the Messages app and open up the text message.
10. Tap and Hold on the 6 Digit Code then Tap on Copy.
11. Double Click the home button then go back into Passbook & Apple Pay.
12. Select the card you just added.
13. Tap Enter Code.
14. Tap where it Says “Enter code”.
15. You’ll see the Paste text entry option appear. Tap on paste and your verification code should be entered into the text box.
16. Click Done.
You’ll be taken back to Passbook & Apple Pay. You’re now ready to pay for things using contact-less payments and your iPhone.
