Replace Spotlight on the Home Screen w/ Any App on iOS 7 (Video)

Spotlight is the universal searching feature on your iPhone that allows you to search through all of you contacts, apps, etc. but let’s be honest, how often do you use it? What if instead of getting to that whenever you swipe to the right on your iPhone’s home screen, you could get to a more useful app of your choosing? Thanks to a Cydia tweak called Fav, you can easily do just that. Simply install it and pick the app you want to use. Here’s how to replace spotlight with any app on iOS 7.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

II. Install Fav

1. Open Cydia (if it isn’t still open from the section above).

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in Fav.

4. Tap on Fav when it shows up.

5. Tap Install in the top right corner.

6. Tap Restart.

III. Setup Fav

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap on Fav.

3. Turn Enabled on.

4. Tap Application.

5. Choose the app you want it to open when you swipe.

IV. Use Fav

1. On the home screen, swipe from left to right as if to get to spotlight (the search screen) and it will instead launch whatever app you assigned in settings.
