How to See If Someone is Typing to You in the Status Bar of iOS 7 (Video)
A neat thing about the iPhone and iMessages is the ability to see when someone is typing to you. While this feature was limited to when you were actually looking at a conversation, thanks to a jailbreak, it has been expanded to work on any page of iOS 7. A small banner appears over the status bar whenever someone is typing, or when someone has read a message of yours (if they have read receipts enabled as usual). I have to admit, once you have this enabled, it’s hard to go back to the “old fashioned” way. Here’s how to install it and set it up.
I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad
To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.6). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.
II. Add the Repository for TypeStatus
1. Open Cydia.
2. Tap Manage at the bottom.
3. Tap on Sources.
4. Tap Edit.
5. Tap Add.
6. Type in the following and hit Add Source when done:
http://cydia.hbang.ws
7. Tap Return to Cydia when it is done grabbing the packages from the repository.
II. Install TypeStatus
1. Tap Hashbang Productions under Sources.
2. Scroll down and find TypeStatus..
3. Tap in TypeStatus.
4. Tap Install in the top right corner.
5. Tap Restart.
III. Setup TypeStatus
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap on TypeStatus.
3. Choose the options based on your personal preference.
4. Tap Test Typing and Test Read to ensure they are working the way you want them to work.
Enjoy!
