How to Unroot the Huawei Mate 9
If you’ve rooted your Huawei Mate 9, you’ve probably enjoyed some of the greatest custom Android developments on your device. From the very useful root-only apps to gorgeous custom ROMs, everything can be run on a rooted Huawei Mate 9.
However, if you’ve overdone customizing on the device and it has led to something weird and has made your device cluttered, then that’s not a good thing for sure. If that sounds like you, you have a way to get all the things back to their place which means you have a way to unroot and get your device back to the stock ROM.
By unrooting your Huawei Mate 9, you can remove root-access from the device and put back the stock ROM on the device that only has stock utilities and no other items. Unrooting the device is as easy as downloading a stock ROM and flashing it off on the device using an easy method.

Before You Begin
- You should have rooted your device using our how to root the Huawei Mate 9 procedure.
- Please backup all the data stored on your device before doing this procedure.
- This will get your device back to the stock ROM.
- This only works for the following models of the device: MHA-L09C432B126 and MHA-L29C432B126.
How to Unroot the Huawei Mate 9
To unroot the device, you will download a stock ROM and flash it on the phone to unroot and get the phone back to the stock. Here’s how to do that:
Downloading Required Files
- Download Stock ROM and save it to your desktop.

Unrooting the Huawei Mate 9
- Extract files from Stock ROM over to your desktop by right-clicking on the ROM and selecting Extract here.
- Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
- Open the internal SD card storage of your device on your PC and create a new folder and name it dload. Make sure the folder is in the root of the internal SD card storage.
- Copy update.app available on your PC’s desktop over to the newly created dload folder on your device’s internal SD card storage.
- When the file’s copied, disconnect your device from your PC.
- Turn off your device.
- Turn your device back on in update mode by pressing and holding down Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power buttons together for a few seconds.
- The device will automatically start updating itself using the file you copied to it in one of the above steps.
- Wait for the device to get updated with the stock ROM.
- When the device has been successfully updated, reboot the device.
There you go, your Huawei Mate 9 is now unrooted and is running the pure stock firmware.

when ever I tired to create a new file inside the internal SD card storage I get this message “the device has either stopped responding or is disconnected.” I made sure that usb debugging is on and also I’m in MTP mode. any ideas?
