Over at EngadgetMobile, they did a nice little comparison of the GSM unlocked version, the Sprint CDMA version, and the Verizon CDMA version (Droid Eris) of the HTC Hero.
They point out a bunch of differences that I good to note (my personal favorite as always is the unlocked version, but no 3G can be a huge problem for most, understandably).
So check their comparison out if you were debating about which you wanted to get.

lets give a two thumbs down for verizon trying to jump on the android band wagon. the original gsm hero still looks the best IMO. the only thing about the moto “droid” that i like is the processor. other than that, moto needs to bring something better than that cheap looking phone (thats all they are good for. once again IMO)

eris specs is more sleeker and its way more sexier phone….hero is also very attractive but if eris had 3g it would be raised higher than the hero….its only 99 dollars…way cheaper than the hero and well worth it….proccesor is also a little faster

To DS: I have an Eris Droid and it is a 3G phone.
To VR and Ejensen: I have to agree the Moto Droid did nothing for me in the store. Its bulky and can not compare to the HTC.
I love my Eris.

actually the eris and hero have the same processor, but I played with the droid yesterday for a couple hours and its not enough to make me want to change as a matter of fact i thought it was kind of laggy.

I have the UK HTC Hero running the Modaco Custom Rom.
I’ve used a Motorola droid and it doesn’t even come close to competing with my phone.
This is just one man’s opinion however.

PhonePersona,
Thing that might change that for you is that the Droid was just rooted, so Sense UI might be coming to the Droid… hmmm, you never know.
